Larian has documented bugs that caused Honour Mode crashes, loading blockers and gameplay-state errors. Its notes also record fixes for those issues, so an old report does not prove the same bug is still active. If a problem is happening now, check the game version and platform, document the steps that trigger it, and report a reproducible issue to Larian Support. No reliable public statistic establishes how often bugs end Honour Mode runs.
What Larian’s patch notes actually establish
The official notes show that Honour Mode bugs have occurred and that Larian has addressed some of them. They do not establish a current failure rate, prove every player-reported death was caused by a bug, or guarantee recovery of a failed run. The examples below are historical fixes, not confirmation that the same issues remain active.
Hotfix #36 — March 26, 2026
For version 4.1.1.7209685, Larian said an earlier small update intended to address corrupted savegames appeared to introduce performance issues that triggered crashes. Hotfix #36, which Larian said rolled out to all platforms, listed fixes for a frame-rate drop followed by a crash when loading a save, several crashes, and a Mac progression blocker: players could not get past character creation after starting an introduction cinematic in Honour Mode. Larian’s Hotfix #36 notes describe the fixes; they do not say that every current loading or Mac issue has the same cause.
Hotfix #34 — September 23, 2025
For version 4.1.1.6946847, Larian listed fixes for an Xbox crash while loading an Honour Mode save, a hang when exiting an Honour Mode game to the menu, and a loading problem that could happen when starting a new Honour Mode game after loading a previous save. It also fixed the Apostle of Myrkul regaining hit points each time a mid-combat save was loaded in Tactician and Honour Mode. A note added October 6, 2025, records a cross-platform fix intended to address PS5 freezing when opening party management. These are specific fixes, not a blanket assurance about all saves or platforms. Read Hotfix #34’s notes.

Hotfix #26 — September 19, 2024
Larian fixed a crash and an issue in which enemies could retain Honour Mode Legendary Actions after switching to a non-Honour-Mode save. The studio also advised players experiencing mod incompatibilities to uninstall mods and check whether the issue persisted; if it did, contact support. Hotfix #26’s notes are useful context if your issue involves mods, but they do not establish that mods caused a particular crash.
Hotfix #14 — December 15, 2023
Larian included a fix for a potential crash when loading an Honour Mode save and invited players to report bugs through support. This is an earlier example of save-loading stability work, not evidence of a present-day failure rate. See Hotfix #14.

How to tell whether a current problem matches a documented issue
Compare the details, not just the broad description “my run broke.” Record the platform, game version, date, exact point where the issue occurs, steps immediately before it, and whether mods are installed. A crash on loading, a menu hang, a progression blocker and an enemy’s unexpected combat state are different symptoms; similar wording alone does not prove they share a cause.
- Platform: Identify PC, Mac, Xbox or PS5. Some historical fixes were platform-specific.
- Version and date: Note the game version shown by your installation and when the issue occurred. A fix in an older patch note is not proof that your current version has the same fault.
- Trigger and symptom: Write down whether the problem happens while loading, exiting to a menu, beginning a new Honour Mode game, or during combat.
- Mods: Note whether mods are installed and whether the issue still occurs after following Larian’s mod troubleshooting.
Patch 8, announced April 15, 2025, was described by Larian as the game’s final major patch, not the end of all updates. Hotfixes #34 and #36 followed, so check the official notes for your platform and version rather than assuming no fixes have been released since Patch 8. Larian’s Patch 8 announcement and the later hotfix notes provide that distinction.

What to do if a bug is affecting your run
- Capture the details. Record your platform, game version, exact steps, where the problem occurs, and mod status. If practical, preserve the error message or other evidence that illustrates the issue.
- Check current official guidance. Compare the symptom with Larian’s patch notes and support troubleshooting; do not treat an old player post as confirmation of a current bug.
- If you use mods, test without them. Follow Larian’s recommendation to remove mods and check whether the issue persists. If it does, contact support. This can help narrow the cause but does not by itself prove which component is responsible.
- Report reproducible problems to Larian Support. Its support site provides a bug-report route and troubleshooting for crashes, mods and inability to save. Use Larian’s bug-report instructions and include the details you recorded.
A report can help Larian investigate, but the available guidance does not promise that support can restore a failed Honour Mode run or exempt it from the mode’s rules.

There is evidence that individual bugs have affected Honour Mode: Larian’s dated patch notes document specific issues and fixes. There is not a published statistic in the cited sources for the share of Honour Mode runs ended by bugs. A player post using the phrase “Random bug ended my honor mode run” is one person’s account, not proof of prevalence or a verified cause. Read the individual Reddit post in that limited context.
