Xbox’s product page describes a campaign and online social features but does not say whether its console editions can launch and continue offline. Check the requirements for your exact edition before relying on offline access.

Does “single-player” mean you can play without internet?
No. “Single-player” describes a feature category, not whether a game can start or keep running without a network connection. The Steam listing illustrates the distinction: it categorizes Forza Horizon 5 as single-player while also requiring a persistent internet connection. Microsoft’s general Xbox developer guidance says, “Games are not required to support offline play.” That guidance explains why offline support cannot be assumed, but it does not confirm Forza Horizon 5’s behavior on Xbox. What about the campaign and social modes?
Xbox describes a campaign with hundreds of challenges and separately highlights Horizon Arcade and other social features. Those descriptions establish that the game has both campaign and online-oriented content; they do not identify which campaign activities work offline or promise that the campaign can be launched without a connection. Treat individual activities as unconfirmed for offline use unless the requirements for your edition say otherwise.
How to check before you lose internet access
- Identify your exact edition and platform. Steam, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows PC are distinct platform options; do not apply one store’s requirements to another edition.
- Check that edition’s official store page and system requirements. For Steam, look for the persistent-connection statement. The Xbox product page does not specify offline launch behavior.
- Test the setup while connected. If offline access matters on an Xbox console, check your own installed copy and account setup before relying on it during a connection outage. The Xbox product information does not provide an authoritative offline setup checklist.
Do not assume a physical copy bypasses account, licensing, or connection checks; the official information cited here does not establish that. Likewise, a Game Pass requirement for online console multiplayer is not evidence that an offline campaign is available.
