You can generally take a PS5 to Europe, but check the electrical rating on your exact console before plugging it in and confirm your airline’s baggage rules before you fly. If the console’s rating covers the destination’s voltage and frequency, you may need only a plug adapter to make it fit the outlet; an adapter does not convert voltage.
Check your PS5’s power rating before you plug it in
Read the electrical rating on your console or in the safety guide for its exact model. The published ratings are not identical across every model: Sony’s PS5 Pro CFI-71XX safety guide lists 100–240 V at 50/60 Hz, while Sony’s European PS5 CFI-12XXA safety guide lists 220–240 V at 50/60 Hz. These are examples for those specific models, not a guarantee about your console.
Compare the rating on your console with the voltage and frequency at your destination. If the rating does not cover the local supply, do not assume a travel converter will make the console safe; follow the instructions in your model’s manual.
Adapter or voltage converter: what you may need
If your console’s rating is compatible with the destination’s electricity but the plug does not fit the outlet, a plug adapter may solve the fit problem. Sony Support explains that “A plug adapter does not change the voltage necessary for proper product operation.” Its overseas-use guidance also advises checking the product label and destination electrical system. Outlet types vary across Europe, so choose an adapter for the country or countries on your itinerary.

Do not buy or use a voltage converter as a substitute for checking the console’s rating. The console manual and label are the relevant guides for your particular PS5.
Can you bring a PS5 in your carry-on?
Check the operating airline’s current baggage limits for every flight, including connecting legs. The UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) notes: “The amount and sizes of hand baggage you can take varies according to the airline and aircraft type.” Its passenger baggage guidance is UK guidance, not a guarantee of acceptance by every airline, airport, or regulator.

When practical, carry the console in cabin baggage as a valuable electronic device. The CAA says portable electronic devices powered by lithium batteries should generally be carried in the cabin. If an applicable device has to go in checked baggage, its guidance includes conditions such as being fully switched off and protected from damage. The PS5 safety guide identifies a lithium-ion battery in the DualSense controller; account for controllers and other battery-powered accessories separately rather than treating the console itself as battery-powered.
If your cabin bag might be gate-checked, ask the airline how to handle the console and battery-powered accessories before handing it over. Do not assume that every aircraft has room for your bag or that a checked bag will be accepted under the same conditions.

What you need to play at your destination
Sony’s PS5 specifications and setup guidance document an HDMI OUT port and use of the included HDMI cable. Bring that cable and check that your TV or monitor has an accessible, compatible HDMI input. A hotel or rental property may restrict access to its TV inputs, so ask the accommodation if connecting a console is important to your trip.

If you plan to play DVDs or Blu-ray movies bought in Europe, check the region information for both the disc and your exact console model. Sony’s PS5 CFI-1215A safety guide lists supported media and region codes for Blu-ray and DVD playback, as well as PS4-format Blu-ray. This is a movie-disc consideration; it does not establish that PS5 game discs are blocked by the same movie-disc region restrictions.
