Short answer: Lunar Lake can make some demanding games playable on a thin-and-light laptop, but it is not a dependable route to 60 fps or high settings across modern releases. In published testing of an Asus Zenbook S 14 with Intel Arc 140V graphics, Cyberpunk 2077 averaged about 48 fps and Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail nearly 52 fps, while Total War: Warhammer III did not hold a consistent 30 fps even at 1080p Low. Those are results from one laptop and test setup—not a guarantee for every Lunar Lake model.
That distinction matters: Lunar Lake is a processor family, not a single fixed gaming configuration. Its graphics performance depends on the particular chip, laptop cooling and power limits, driver, settings, and whether the system is plugged in. Treat Arc 140V as a surprisingly capable integrated GPU for occasional play, not a substitute for a gaming laptop with discrete graphics.
What the three-game results say
Intel’s Lunar Lake processors are sold as Core Ultra 200V, or Core Ultra Series 2, mobile chips. Their integrated graphics are branded Arc 140V or Arc 130V; the top graphics configuration has eight Xe2 cores. Intel introduced Xe2 with Lunar Lake and claimed an average 30% mobile graphics uplift, but that figure is Intel’s own claim, not a promise of a particular frame rate in any game. Intel’s processor overview and its Core Ultra 200V announcement describe the platform and architecture.

Independent results show why a game-by-game answer is more useful than a single GPU ranking. PCWorld tested Arc 140V in multiple games and found strong results in some, but substantial variation between two Arc 140V laptops. The three titles below illustrate a promising case, a reasonably playable middle ground, and a clear limit.

| Game | Published result | Practical takeaway |
|---|---|---|
| Cyberpunk 2077 | About 48 fps average on the tested Zenbook S 14; reported average and minimum rates were above 30 fps under that test’s settings. | Demanding games can be playable, but this is not evidence of a stable 60 fps experience or of performance at high settings. |
| Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail | Nearly 52 fps average on the tested Zenbook S 14. | A modern MMO can run well on the right configuration, though crowded scenes and frame-time consistency still matter. |
| Total War: Warhammer III | Could not maintain a consistent 30 fps at 1080p Low in the cited testing. | Even the lowest preset cannot guarantee smooth play in a demanding strategy game. |
These figures come from PCWorld’s Lunar Lake game testing. The available published figures do not provide a complete, comparable set of average frame rates, 1% lows, frame-time traces, temperatures, power readings, and exact settings for all three games. They should therefore be read as useful examples from that review—not as a fresh, controlled three-game retest or as directly comparable results across titles.
How to interpret each game
Cyberpunk 2077: a promising result, not a high-settings guarantee
An average near 48 fps, with the reported minimum also above 30 fps, is a credible result for integrated graphics in a demanding open-world game. It suggests that an Arc 140V laptop can deliver an experience that is more than simply launching the game. It does not establish that the game will hold 48 fps everywhere, that the 1% low is close to the average, or that the same result applies at native resolution on every laptop screen. Nor does it imply that 1080p High, ray tracing, or a 60 fps target is realistic.
For a buyer, the sensible starting point is 1080p Low or a carefully chosen Medium preset with ray tracing off. If performance needs help, try XeSS where the game offers it, and note the quality mode and render resolution. Upscaling trades image clarity for speed; inspect motion and fine detail for softness, ghosting, or shimmering rather than treating an “upscaling on” result as free performance.

Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail: averages do not tell the whole MMO story
Nearly 52 fps average is encouraging, but an MMO’s demands change with the scene. A quiet route or repeatable benchmark may perform differently from a crowded city, raid, or large fight. A good average can conceal brief drops or uneven frame pacing, which are especially noticeable during camera movement and combat.
When evaluating an MMO laptop, look for low-frame-rate behavior and consistency in busy areas as well as the headline average. A stable 40–50 fps can feel more comfortable than a higher average punctuated by stutter; the published average alone cannot settle that question.
Total War: Warhammer III: the warning case
The cited Arc 140V test did not sustain a consistent 30 fps at 1080p Low. That makes this the important counterexample to the stronger results: dropping settings does not turn every demanding game into a smooth experience. Large battles can put pressure on both graphics and the CPU, so a low result need not be explained by the GPU alone.

“Playable” is a judgment, not a hardware specification. As a practical review standard, 60 fps is a useful target for responsive action and competitive games. A steady 30 fps can be acceptable for some slower single-player games if frame pacing is even. Below 30 fps is generally a poor recommendation for real-time play, though turn-based games may be more tolerant. A reported average is not enough to determine whether a game meets any of those standards: 1% lows, frame-time consistency, and the scenes tested matter too.
Likewise, a result at 1080p Low is not the same as a good-looking result at a laptop’s native resolution. Some Lunar Lake laptops have high-resolution panels. Rendering a game at 1920×1080 and scaling it to a 2.8K or 3K screen can improve speed, but it may look softer than native output. Always check whether a review’s resolution refers to the rendered game resolution or the panel resolution.

Why one Arc 140V laptop may outperform another
The Arc 140V name identifies the integrated GPU, but does not specify the sustained power or cooling available in a particular chassis. Laptop makers choose power limits, fan profiles, and performance modes; chassis cooling and BIOS tuning affect how long a system can maintain its pace. Results can also change between wall power and battery operation, with ambient temperature, and with the laptop’s display and graphics settings. PCWorld found materially different performance between its Asus Zenbook S 14 and Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Aura Edition Arc 140V systems, so a result from one should not be generalized to all.
Memory configuration is another purchase constraint. Lunar Lake memory is packaged with the processor rather than supplied as ordinary upgradeable laptop modules in implementations such as the Zenbook S 14. That makes the capacity selected at purchase consequential; check the exact configuration and assume you may not be able to add RAM later. PCWorld’s Zenbook S 14 review describes its 32GB integrated LPDDR5X configuration.
Driver and game versions also matter. Intel driver 32.0.101.6874 included power-management optimizations for Core Ultra 200V systems intended to improve performance and frame pacing in lower-power modes. Driver updates can alter behavior or compatibility, so old launch-era results are not a permanent forecast. When comparing reviews, check the driver version and test date rather than assuming every result represents the same software state. Intel’s release notes document that update and list game-related fixes and issues.

A fair way to evaluate a specific Lunar Lake laptop
Before relying on a benchmark, look for the information needed to reproduce or interpret it. A useful review should identify:
- The exact processor (for example, Core Ultra 7 258V) and whether graphics are Arc 140V or Arc 130V.
- Laptop model, memory capacity, display resolution, and whether the game ran on the internal screen or an external monitor.
- Graphics driver, Windows version, BIOS, game version, and test date.
- Whether the laptop was plugged in, its Windows and manufacturer performance modes, and whether the run followed a warm-up period.
- Resolution, preset, ray-tracing setting, upscaler and mode, plus average fps and lows or frame-time data where available.
For a rigorous comparison, reviewers should use the same repeatable route, benchmark, save, or replay; let the laptop reach a stable temperature; and repeat runs rather than relying on one pass. Plugged-in and battery results should be shown separately, as should Balanced and Performance modes. If a review omits these details, use its numbers as directional evidence, not a precise prediction for your purchase.
How it compares with AMD integrated graphics
In PCWorld’s tested systems, Arc 140V generally placed ahead of AMD Radeon 880M but behind Radeon 890M overall, with substantial game-to-game variation. That is a result from a particular set of laptops, not a universal ranking of every chip or chassis. Power settings, cooling, drivers, and the title being played can change the comparison. Three games are not enough to declare a universal Intel-versus-AMD winner.
Compare complete laptops and their game results, not just the graphics brand printed on a spec sheet. If a discrete-GPU model is available at a similar price and gaming is a priority, it may be a better fit—but the relevant comparison is between actual configurations, not an abstract Arc 140V badge and an unspecified discrete GPU.
Who should choose Lunar Lake for gaming?
- Good fit: You want a portable productivity laptop first and expect to play occasionally, particularly at 1080p Low or Medium, with an upscaler when useful.
- Potential fit: You play older, less demanding, or well-optimized games and have checked results for the exact laptop and its power mode.
- Weak fit: You want modern AAA games at 1080p High, consistent 60 fps, or ray tracing. The cited results do not support those expectations as a general promise.
- Look elsewhere: Gaming is your main use, you need reliable high frame rates in demanding strategy or action games, or a discrete-GPU laptop offers better performance for your budget and portability needs.
Also weigh memory before purchase. Since package-level memory may not be upgradeable, a 16GB configuration can constrain future use beyond games; choose capacity for the laptop’s full expected workload, not only today’s game requirements.
