Yes. Nintendo Switch and PS5 players can play Minecraft together through the Bedrock cross-platform experience. Both players need to sign in with Microsoft accounts, use matching game versions, and have the online subscription required by their console.
What you need for Switch–PS5 cross-play
- Bedrock on both consoles: Minecraft requires matching editions. A Bedrock player can join Bedrock games, while Java players can only join Java games. See Minecraft’s multiplayer requirements.
- Microsoft accounts: Each player signs in to Minecraft with a Microsoft account. On Switch, signing in enables cross-play; on PlayStation, the Microsoft account must be linked to the player’s PSN account.
- Console online subscriptions: Switch online multiplayer requires Nintendo Switch Online, and PlayStation online multiplayer requires PlayStation Plus.
- Current, matching game versions: Minecraft recommends using the latest release and says matching versions are needed to avoid connection issues. The requirements page does not specify an exact patch number.

Join the same world
Once both players have the account setup, required console subscriptions, and matching game versions, one player can host a multiplayer world and invite the other through Minecraft. A Realm is another option: Minecraft describes Realms as personal multiplayer servers for playing with friends. The multiplayer requirements do not establish a paid Realm as necessary for ordinary cross-platform play.

If you cannot connect
- Confirm both players are using Minecraft Bedrock, not Java Edition.
- Check that both games are updated to the same version.
- Verify that each player is signed in with the correct Microsoft account and that the PlayStation account is linked.
- Confirm the required Nintendo Switch Online or PlayStation Plus subscription is active for the console being used.
