Restream lets eligible users schedule a prerecorded video to repeat up to 10 times, with the resulting stream capped at 40 hours. That can keep a YouTube broadcast going for an extended period, but it is not a continuous, forever-running loop. Restream’s event instructions and looping limits describe the feature and its caps.
What Restream’s loop does—and what it does not
Restream’s prerecorded-event feature can replay a selected video several times as a scheduled YouTube livestream. The documented maximum is 10 plays, and the looped stream can run for no more than 40 hours. Restream names its Marathon and Media add-on plans as supporting this feature; check Restream’s current plan details before relying on eligibility, because plan entitlements can change.
That is finite replay, not an indefinite 24/7 loop. Restream’s Studio also has a loop control for video playback, but that is a separate, manually controlled Studio workflow. It should not be taken as evidence that a scheduled prerecorded event can run forever. Restream’s Studio guide says Studio plays one stored video at a time, with file-size and duration limits depending on plan.
How to schedule a prerecorded video on YouTube
- In Restream, select New Stream, then Pre-recorded livestream.
- Choose a saved upload or recording, or upload a video, then continue to the event details.
- Enter the title and description, choose the event date and time, and set the number of plays. The count cannot exceed 10.
- Enable your YouTube channel and create the event. Restream says it starts automatically at the scheduled time.
- Monitor the event in Restream while it airs. Viewers can still use live chat during a prerecorded event.

Prepare the video file
Restream lists these required upload specifications for prerecorded streams:
- Container: MP4, MOV, M4V, or MKV.
- Video encoding: H.264.
- Audio encoding: AAC.
- Keyframe interval: 2.
Restream recommends Full HD at 1920×1080, 30 or 60 FPS, and constant bitrate. It also recommends adding 15–20 seconds at the start and end so platform processing is less likely to cut off important content. See Restream’s video requirements.

Know the YouTube archive and duration distinction
YouTube’s livestream duration and its saved archive are separate issues. Restream’s YouTube guide says YouTube has no live-stream duration limit, but archives only streams shorter than 12 hours. A stream that reaches 12 hours or more may therefore continue live without becoming an archived YouTube video. That archive threshold is not a cap on how long the live broadcast can run, and it does not extend Restream’s 40-hour loop maximum. See Restream’s YouTube guide and its duration guidance.
Restream separately warns that its servers may undergo maintenance and restart after more than 24 continuous hours, and recommends restarting streams every 24 hours. This is Restream operational guidance, not a YouTube rule. It is another reason not to treat a long scheduled stream as an uninterrupted forever-loop.

Playlists are a separate limitation
Restream says playlists currently do not support looping. Its documented workaround is to duplicate videos in a playlist, up to the 40-video playlist limit. That can repeat content within the playlist, but it is not the same as the scheduled event’s video loop control and does not remove the 40-hour maximum for looped streams. Check Restream’s looping help page for the current details.
Account and copyright checks before going live
Restream’s YouTube guide says the channel owner must connect the YouTube channel. It also says first-time livestreaming requires phone verification followed by a 24-hour wait. Platform onboarding requirements can change, so check YouTube’s current account prompts if the channel cannot be enabled.

Before scheduling, make sure you have the rights needed to broadcast the video and any music or other material it contains. A prerecorded format does not bypass YouTube’s copyright rules. If you want to review common risk areas, use the copyright safety checklist.
