Sometimes—but it depends on the app. Streaming software can capture and mix a podcast, apply audio filters while you record, and save the recording without offering any way to edit that finished file. Mixlr Studio documents simple post-recording waveform cuts and trims; OBS documents capture, mixing, recording, and filters, but not a built-in editor for the finished recording in the materials cited here.
Recording, processing, and editing are different jobs
“Streaming software” can describe several parts of an audio workflow. To decide whether a particular app can edit podcast recordings, check what it does before, during, and after recording.
- Capture and mix: Bring in a microphone and other audio sources, monitor levels, and combine them. OBS describes real-time audio and video capture and mixing. OBS’s feature page
- Process while recording: Apply effects or filters to a source as you record. OBS lists noise gate, noise suppression, gain, and VST plug-in support. These tools change or shape the audio signal; their presence does not establish that the app can edit a finished recording’s timeline. OBS’s feature page
- Edit after recording: Open an existing file, inspect its waveform or timeline, remove sections, and save the result. Mixlr Studio says its app supports waveform review and cut/trim edits. Mixlr Studio
Recording a podcast inside an app—or applying a filter during recording—does not by itself mean you can revise the recording afterward. Look for an explicit post-recording editor.
What OBS and Mixlr Studio document
OBS: capture, mix, filter, and record
OBS is documented as a tool for capturing and mixing audio and video, recording, and streaming. Its audio features include per-source filters such as noise gate, noise suppression, and gain, as well as VST plug-in support. The cited feature materials do not document a built-in waveform or timeline editor for making cuts in a finished recording. OBS feature information

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
OBS’s guide also discusses interfacing with a digital audio workstation (DAW), which can suit a workflow where recording or streaming happens in OBS and post-production happens in a separate audio application. The guide does not compare DAWs or establish which one is best for a particular podcast. OBS surround-sound guide
Mixlr Studio: simple edits in the app
Mixlr Studio describes opening recordings in a built-in editor for waveform review and cut/trim edits. It also describes zoom, undo and redo, and saving edits as new recordings. That makes it a documented example of a streaming or audio broadcasting app that includes basic post-recording editing; it does not mean every streaming app has the same tools. Mixlr Studio

How to choose an app for a podcast workflow
Start with the changes you need to make, rather than the broad label “streaming software.” An app that handles recording well may still leave editing to another tool.
- Inputs: Can it capture the microphone and any other sources your session requires?
- Monitoring and processing: Can you monitor each source and apply the filters you need while recording?
- Recording format and tracks: Does it record in a format and track arrangement suitable for your workflow? The cited product materials do not establish a universal format or track requirement, so check the current specifications for the app you choose.
- Post-recording edits: Can you open a saved recording and make the changes you need? Check specifically for waveform or timeline editing, cuts and trims, undo, and whether edits preserve the original.
- Saving or export: Can you save the edited result in a form that works for your next step? Confirm the available save and export options in the app’s current documentation.
If all you need is capture, a live mix, and recording, a full post-production editor may not be necessary. If you need to revise a finished episode, verify that the app supports those edits—or plan to use a separate editor or DAW.

A separate note: keeping a YouTube video stream live
Podcast recording and editing are separate from keeping pre-recorded video playing as a YouTube live stream. If that is a different part of your workflow, StreamNeo is a cloud service for looping uploaded videos on YouTube: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It is not an audio editor and does not stream from a camera.
Or let it run in the cloud
With StreamNeo, nothing at home has to stay on for the stream to continue. Uploaded video streams as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; it does not re-encode the video or offer quality tiers. If YouTube drops the stream, StreamNeo automatically attempts recovery. The first day is free with no card, once per account. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month.
