No. The PlayStation 2 does not officially support Netflix streaming, and there is no dependable, supported setup that turns it into a Netflix player. Its internet features were for compatible online games and services; they did not give the console a modern Netflix app or supported browser. The PS2 can play compatible DVDs, but that is separate from streaming.
Netflix’s current PlayStation instructions list PS4, PS4 Pro, PS5, and PS5 Pro—not PS2. This status was checked on August 18, 2026; device support can change by model, region, and service policy. Netflix’s PlayStation setup guide
Why PS2 internet access does not mean Netflix support
Some original PS2 models needed a separate PlayStation 2 Network Adaptor for wired online access. Later Slim models included an Ethernet port. Sony describes online play arriving through the Network Adaptor and the later Slim’s Ethernet connection as part of the console’s history. Sony’s PS2 history
That connection let compatible games and services use a network; it did not make the PS2 a general-purpose streaming platform. Netflix requires a supported app on a compatible device or a supported browser on a computer. A network connection alone does not supply Netflix software, account sign-in, or supported playback. PS2 DVD playback is not Netflix streaming
The PS2 can play compatible physical DVDs, a capability Sony notes in its history of the console. A disc is read from the drive; Netflix delivers video over the internet through supported software. An old Netflix DVD, if you have one, is still a physical disc—not access to Netflix streaming—and playback can depend on disc and regional compatibility.
Do not confuse PS2 support with PS3, PS4, or PS5
| Console | Netflix status |

| PS2 | No official Netflix streaming support. |
| PS3 | Supported historically; Sony says Netflix support ended March 2, 2026. Sony’s service notice |

Can a browser, USB drive, adapter, or modification make it work?
There is no official PS2 Netflix installer or current supported browser route. Netflix documents browser viewing on computers and app-based support for compatible devices; the PS2 is not among its listed PlayStation options. Netflix service and viewing information
- USB installer: A file claiming to add Netflix to a PS2 is unofficial, not a supported Netflix app.
- HDMI adapter: It can change how the console’s picture connects to a television, but it does not add streaming software.
- Capture card: It can send the PS2’s output to a computer; the computer, not the PS2, would run Netflix.
- Homebrew or modified console: Unofficial media tools do not establish Netflix compatibility. Authentication, encryption, DRM, codecs, certificates, and service-side requirements can prevent playback; modification can also introduce reliability, account-term, or hardware risks. It is not a practical supported solution.
What to use for Netflix instead
Netflix supports a range of device categories, including smart TVs, streaming devices, Blu-ray players, game consoles, phones, tablets, and computers. Compatibility varies by model and software; some older devices can lose support for newer app experiences or plans. Netflix-supported devices Netflix compatibility notice

- Already own a supported device? Use its Netflix app on a compatible smart TV, console, streaming box, phone, tablet, or computer.
- Have an older TV with HDMI? Add a current streaming stick or box, connect it to HDMI and Wi-Fi (or Ethernet if the device supports it), then open Netflix and sign in.
- Choosing for an HD or 4K TV? An HD streamer is enough for an HD television. For 4K playback, both the television and streaming device must support 4K; check the device’s supported features and Netflix availability before buying.
- Have weak Wi-Fi? Improve the signal or choose a device with wired networking if available; a new streamer cannot compensate for an unreliable connection.
- Want to keep using the PS2? Keep it for retro games and DVDs, and use a separate streamer for Netflix. Switch the TV input when changing devices.
Netflix access requires a subscription; buying streaming hardware does not include membership. Netflix says signup involves choosing an available plan, creating an account, and entering a payment method. Check local plans and pricing when signing up. Netflix getting-started information
