No. The PSP is not a viable platform for running GameCube games. The PPSSPP project’s porting documentation marks GameCube as “NOT POSSIBLE,” citing insufficient RAM and a weak CPU. An emulator download, homebrew program, memory card or add-on cannot remove those hardware limits.
Why can’t the PSP run GameCube games?
GameCube emulation requires a device to reproduce the console’s behavior in software. A processor clock number alone cannot show whether a system can do that: the emulator also needs enough processing capacity and memory to handle the work. PPSSPP’s own porting assessment is direct: “GameCube | NOT POSSIBLE | Not enough RAM, weak CPU.” PPSSPP project porting documentation
The PSP’s hardware limits
Sony’s original PSP specification, announced May 11, 2004, lists a CPU clock of 1–333 MHz, 32 MB of main memory and 4 MB of embedded DRAM. These are manufacturer specifications from 2004, not modern performance measurements. Sony Computer Entertainment’s 2004 PSP specification announcement
PPSSPP’s hardware overview says the PSP’s 32-bit MIPS-derived main CPU typically runs at 222 MHz or 333 MHz; the higher speed became available through later firmware, with increased battery use. The PSP also has a Media Engine, but PPSSPP describes it as a stripped-down Allegrex processor used for high-level audio and video tasks—not an additional general-purpose CPU that solves the emulation bottleneck. Why a faster clock number would not be enough
Emulating another console is not simply a matter of matching its advertised clock speed. The emulator must reproduce hardware behavior, and the host system needs sufficient CPU capability and RAM to do that. In this case, the relevant evidence is PPSSPP’s explicit feasibility assessment alongside the PSP’s limited memory and processing resources—not a comparison of clock figures in isolation.
What can you use instead?
Use a separate computer or recent Android device that meets Dolphin’s current requirements. Dolphin is the emulator project for GameCube and Wii games; it documents desktop support for Windows, Linux and macOS, as well as support for recent Android devices. Dolphin FAQ and platform information

Check the device before choosing it
Dolphin’s listed desktop requirements include an SSE2-capable processor, a modern dual-core CPU at 3 GHz or faster as a recommendation, and a reasonably modern graphics card. Its graphics documentation lists Direct3D 11.1 or OpenGL 3.3 as baseline capabilities, with Direct3D 11.1 or OpenGL 4.4 recommended. Requirements can change, so check Dolphin’s current documentation and compare it with the exact device configuration before buying or installing anything. These are requirements for running Dolphin on another device; they do not make GameCube emulation possible on a PSP. Dolphin performance guide Dolphin graphics settings guide
A mini PC may be an option only if its actual processor, graphics support, operating system and performance meet Dolphin’s current requirements. No particular computer is guaranteed to run every GameCube game well, so check the setup and the specific game rather than relying on the product category alone.
