Wooloo can be shiny in Pokémon GO. A current Bulbapedia species reference reports that Shiny Wooloo first became available on September 3, 2024; Niantic’s 2021 announcement introduced Wooloo but did not list it among that event’s newly available shinies.
When did Shiny Wooloo become available?
Bulbapedia’s current Wooloo (GO) reference reports September 3, 2024, as the date Shiny Wooloo first became obtainable. That date comes from a secondary species reference; the retrieved official Niantic announcements do not independently confirm it.

Why do some older Wooloo announcements omit the shiny?
Wooloo debuted in Pokémon GO during Ultra Unlock Part 3: Sword and Shield, scheduled for August 20–31, 2021. Niantic’s official event announcement said Wooloo would appear more frequently in the wild and could be encountered through Field Research. The shiny Pokémon specifically named for that event were Galarian Meowth, Galarian Farfetch’d, Galarian Weezing, and Galarian Stunfisk—not Wooloo.
Niantic also listed Wooloo for the August 31, 2021 Spotlight Hour in its August 2021 events announcement, without announcing a shiny release there. Those older posts explain Wooloo’s debut, but they do not establish its later shiny-release date.
Does Wooloo have boosted shiny odds or a special encounter method now?
The available sources establish that Wooloo’s shiny form has been released, but they do not establish a Wooloo-specific shiny rate or a currently active special encounter method or odds boost. No reliable numeric odds should be inferred from the release date alone.
