The setup flow has players choose a region, then Elyos or Asmodians, then a server. That does not prove a transfer feature is impossible or absent from every current client version, so check the live game or a newer official notice for your region before choosing on the assumption you can switch later.
What the official guidance says about changing factions
NCSOFT’s global launch server and matchmaking information describes faction as part of initial character setup. It does not explain how to move an existing character from Elyos to Asmodian, or from Asmodian to Elyos. The careful answer is that a later faction transfer is not documented in the official material cited here—not that a transfer is definitively impossible in every current version of the game.
Before committing time or purchases to a character, check the current client and official notices for your region. Server and matchmaking conditions can change, but a server rule change should not be treated as confirmation of a faction-transfer service.
How factions and servers are set up
NCSOFT says players select a region first, then a faction, then a server available in that region. It also states that Elyos and Asmodians each live on their own servers. That makes choosing a faction relevant to where your character starts, rather than a cosmetic choice that the cited setup guide says can be changed later.

An October 16, 2025 character reservation announcement listed 10 Elyos servers and 10 Asmodian servers. Those were launch-era counts, not a current server list or a population measure; they do not show that the factions are equally populated now.
Can Elyos and Asmodians play together?
They can face one another in named modes without changing faction. NCSOFT explains that an Elyos server and an Asmodian server can be paired for a limited time, with opponents in modes such as Spacetime Rifts and the Abyss coming from the matched server. This is cross-faction matchmaking, not a transfer of your character or its allegiance.

The cited information does not establish every current party, dungeon, or social restriction between factions. If you and friends want to play a particular activity together, check that activity’s current in-game rules rather than assuming temporary server pairing removes all restrictions.

No. NCSOFT’s February 23, 2026 update said server-creation restrictions had been lifted at that time. That announcement concerns creating characters on servers, not changing an existing character’s faction. NCSOFT’s February 11 and February 23, 2026 updates also show that matching and server conditions can change, but neither documents a faction-change service.

What to consider before choosing
- Coordinate with friends: choose the faction and server your group intends to use, since NCSOFT describes faction-specific servers.
- Do not rely on server counts as a population guide: the 2025 reservation announcement gives historical server counts, not current faction populations.
- Verify the current rules: check the client and the official notices for your region before assuming a later transfer is available.
