Yes. Blizzard’s Race Change service lets you change a character’s race without changing its faction. Blizzard lists the service for World of Warcraft and WoW Classic Progression, but not WoW Classic Era. You can buy it through the Battle.net shop or the in-game World of Warcraft shop; check the shop for the current price in your region.
Can I change my race in WoW?
Yes. Blizzard’s Race Change support article describes a paid service that changes a character’s race while leaving its faction unchanged. It is separate from a Faction Change and does not move the character to another realm or WoW account.
Blizzard lists Race Change as available in World of Warcraft and WoW Classic Progression, and unavailable in WoW Classic Era. Check the live support article and the shop for availability in your game version and region. The shop displays current local pricing; Blizzard’s support guidance does not establish a price here.
How do I change your race in World of Warcraft?
- Open the Battle.net shop or the in-game World of Warcraft shop.
- Choose the Race Change service and follow the purchase prompts.
- Select the eligible character and choose its new race. The service also offers an optional name change.
- Review the confirmation screen carefully before completing the change. Blizzard says sales are final; reversing a completed change requires buying another Race Change after the cooldown.
What can block a Race Change?
Blizzard lists these service restrictions:
- The character must be at least level 10.
- A pending character service on that character must be completed before a Race Change can proceed.
- You must wait 72 hours after completing a race or faction change before changing race again.
- If the character was recently boosted, Blizzard requires a 72-hour wait before attempting any character service.
Blizzard says Customer Support cannot bypass these restrictions.

What changes—and what stays?
Race, faction, and name
The Race Change alters race, not faction. You can also choose a new name as part of the service, but you do not have to. If you take a new name, other players on the same realm cannot use your former name for 30 days.
Capital-city reputations
When changing between two non-allied races, Blizzard says the character’s capital-city reputation converts to the new race’s capital. Other reputations remain unaffected. Allied-race reputations are neutral, so Blizzard says they are unaffected when changing to or from an allied race.

Character progress and collections
Blizzard says the following remain after a Race Change:
- Equipment, inventory, and currency
- Talents, glyphs, and professions
- Mount, pet, and toy collections
- Achievements, titles, quests, and flight points
- Friends and ignore lists, and guild membership
There are quest-related exceptions: some quest items may not be retained, and some race-specific quests may remain in the log even if the new race cannot complete them.

Race Change vs. Faction Change vs. Character Transfer
