Yes. FIFA 20 Ultimate Team (FUT 20) players could pack Icons, but which versions were available depended on the time of year. Packs were only one route: players could also use the Transfer Market, complete certain Guaranteed Icon Pack SBCs, or earn ICON Swaps tokens for selected rewards. These are historical FUT 20 availability details, not a claim about what can be packed now.
When each Icon version was in packs
EA’s FUT 20 release plan, reproduced by FifaUltimateTeam.it, said four versions would be released for each of the game’s 89 Icons. Its rollout windows were approximate rather than exact cutover dates.

The versions represented different career periods or a notable performance, with the specific meaning varying by player. EA’s December 2019 FUTMAS announcement confirmed the timing for Prime versions with the statement: “Prime ICONs are now in packs!” (EA FUTMAS Week Two.)
Other ways to obtain an Icon in FUT 20
EA’s Icon plan described several alternatives to opening packs. They differed in whether the result was random or selected, and in whether players needed to use the market or complete objectives.

EA said FUT 20 would not have individual Icon SBCs or player-pick Icon SBCs. That is distinct from a Guaranteed Icon Pack SBC: a pack challenge gives a random Icon within its stated terms, rather than letting the player select an individual Icon or choose from a player pick. Did every pack or player pick contain Icons?
No such blanket claim is supported. Pack eligibility depended on the pack’s contents and the live content available at the time. EA’s June 2020 Summer Heat announcement described selected campaign items returning in packs and player-pick contents tied to specified campaigns and reward ranks. It does not establish that every pack or pick contained an Icon.

What were the odds of packing an Icon?
The reviewed sources do not give an Icon-specific percentage for any FIFA 20 pack, so there is no supported exact chance to quote. EA’s pack-probability guidance explains that probabilities are pack-specific, shown for item categories and minimum ratings, and may change when live content changes. It also says pack openings are independent: opening more packs does not make a later opening more likely to contain an item. The guidance’s general example is illustrative, not a FIFA 20 Icon probability.

“Can you pack an Icon in FUT 20?” has a historical yes: Icons were pack-available during the cycle, with version-specific rollout periods. That does not mean a current pack contains a FUT 20 Icon, or that any particular pack, upgrade, or pick guaranteed one. The relevant version window and item eligibility were determined by FUT 20’s then-current content.
