How to bring an older Pokémon into Pokémon Champions
There is no direct game-to-game import. Pokémon HOME is the bridge: link HOME with Champions, then send an eligible Pokémon to Champions as a visitor. HOME is available on Nintendo Switch and compatible mobile devices. See the official Pokémon Champions page for the visitor rules and the Pokémon HOME site for HOME information.
- Check that the Pokémon’s species appears in Pokémon Champions.
- Make sure the Pokémon is in Pokémon HOME. Pokémon from games such as Pokémon GO, Pokémon Scarlet, and Pokémon Violet may be sources, but eligibility depends on Champions supporting that species.
- Link Pokémon HOME with Pokémon Champions and send the eligible Pokémon to Champions as a visitor.
HOME’s compatibility guidance explains that Pokémon can only be moved to games in which they appear: Pokémon HOME compatibility information.
Which Pokémon can visit?
Only Pokémon whose species appear in Champions can visit from HOME. The official pages do not provide a complete static species-by-species roster, so a Pokémon being present in an older game does not guarantee it can visit. Check current HOME or in-game compatibility details for the specific species before planning a transfer. Because Champions is a live-service game, roster support may change over time.
#1 Best Overall
- Pokémon Champions + Starter Pack
Pokémon GO, Scarlet, and Violet are examples of possible source games, not a guarantee that every Pokémon from those games is eligible. The official game page describes the examples and the species limitation.
What happens to a visiting Pokémon?
It remains a visitor, not a permanent Champions-only transfer
An eligible visitor can be sent back to Pokémon HOME. The direction does not work both ways for every Pokémon: Pokémon obtained in Champions cannot be sent to HOME. Keep that distinction in mind when deciding whether to use a Champions-obtained Pokémon or bring in one you already have.
Rank #2
- Revisit the Sinnoh region from the original Pokémon Pearl Version game and set off to try and become the Champion of the Pokémon League
- The Pokémon Shining Pearl game brings new life to this remade classic with added features
- Explore the Grand Underground to dig up items and Pokémon Fossils, build a Secret Base, and more.
- Test your style and rhythm in a Super Contest Show
- A reimagined adventure, now for the Nintendo Switch system
Moves may need to change
If a visitor knows a move that Champions does not support, you must change its moves through training in Champions before using the supported moveset.
Champions training stays with the visitor under specified conditions
Training performed in Champions does not transfer back to HOME. If the same Pokémon visits Champions again, its Champions training is retained, except when it returns in a different form.
