Can you install Elden Ring mods on Xbox One or Series X|S?
The official Elden Ring platform and patch listing includes Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, but it does not describe a console mod menu, browser, or supported installation route. The official update notice likewise lists Xbox without providing mod-installation steps. Based on those sources, there is no evidenced supported way to add Elden Ring mods to an Xbox copy.
This wording matters: the available official material does not explicitly say “Xbox mods are impossible.” It simply does not document a supported Xbox feature for finding or installing them. Avoid treating unofficial console modification as an Elden Ring feature.
Does Xbox’s mod policy mean Elden Ring supports mods?
No. Microsoft’s general Xbox requirements apply to games that integrate user-generated content or a mod platform; they do not announce that every Xbox game has one. Microsoft classifies game modifications as user-generated content in its XR-018: User Generated Content policy, version 1.7 dated July 22, 2026 and updated September 15, 2026. That policy explains requirements for an integrated feature, not Elden Ring’s support.

Does the Steam version make Xbox mods available?
No. Bandai Namco lists Steam separately from Xbox among the game’s platforms. An Xbox copy does not become a Steam PC copy, and owning or streaming the Xbox version does not provide access to PC mod files or installation methods. The official sources cited here do not establish which PC mods are available, how to install them, or whether any particular mod works with the current game version.
Which Elden Ring version is current for Xbox?
In an official notice dated September 8, 2026, the Elden Ring site lists App Ver. 1.17.1 and Regulation Ver. 1.17.1 for Xbox and Steam, among other platforms. The notice says the update is required for online play. Versions can change, so check your title screen and the official update page for your region rather than relying on an older patch note: Bandai Namco America’s version 1.16.1 notes are dated August 21, 2025, before the later 1.17.1 notice.
