Yes—Fortnite works on many Samsung Galaxy phones and tablets, but not every model. For native play, the device must meet Epic’s Android requirements: Android 10 or later, a 64-bit ARM64 processor, at least 4 GB of RAM, and a supported GPU. If it falls short, you may still be able to play through a cloud gaming service in your region.
Which Samsung devices can run Fortnite?
The Samsung name alone does not establish compatibility. Galaxy S, Note, A, Z and Tab models vary by processor, memory, Android version and graphics hardware; even variants of the same model can differ. Epic publishes minimum Android specifications rather than a complete current list of supported Samsung models. Check your exact device against Epic’s Android requirements.

These are compatibility thresholds, not a promise of smooth performance. A device that meets them can still have low frame rates, stuttering, long loading times, heat, battery drain or crashes, depending on its hardware, software, storage and conditions.

Epic currently lists the Epic Games Store for Android and Google Play as official Android download routes. Use Epic’s Samsung Fortnite page or Android installation guidance to reach the current options. Do not use APK mirrors, modified installers, social-media downloads or old copied files.

Install through the Epic Games Store for Android
- Open Epic’s official Android download page and download the Epic Games Store app.
- Open the downloaded installer. If Samsung blocks it, check the security prompt and the Auto Blocker guidance below; proceed only if you verified the installer came from Epic’s official site.
- Open the Epic Games Store app, select Fortnite and tap Install.
- Let Fortnite download its additional files, then launch it and sign in to the Epic account you intend to use.
Epic lists Android 8/SDK 26 as the minimum for the Epic Games Store app and Android 14/SDK 34 as recommended for optimal store performance. Those are store-app requirements; Fortnite itself has the higher requirements in the table above. Epic lists the store app at approximately 25 MB, which is not the storage needed for the game and its updates.
Install through Google Play
- Open Google Play on your Samsung device and search for Fortnite, or follow the listing from Epic’s official Android guidance.
- Check that the publisher is Epic Games, then tap Install if the listing offers it for your device and region.
- Open Fortnite and sign in to your Epic account.
Older instructions may point to Samsung’s Galaxy Store. Do not treat it as the universal current route: Epic’s present Samsung page directs users to Epic Games Store or Google Play, and store availability can vary. Samsung’s older Galaxy device instructions may not reflect current distribution.

What if Samsung blocks the installation?
On some newer Galaxy devices, Samsung’s Auto Blocker security feature can prevent installing apps from sources it considers unauthorized. That is an installation security restriction, not proof that the phone cannot run Fortnite. Epic addresses Auto Blocker in the FAQ on its Samsung page.
- First confirm that the installer is from Epic’s official site. Do not disable protection to install an unknown APK.
- If the official installer is blocked, search for “Auto Blocker” in the Settings app. The exact menu location and wording can vary by Galaxy model and One UI version.
- If you choose to turn the feature off temporarily to complete an official installation, consider turning it back on afterward.
Can you play Fortnite without installing it?
Epic lists Xbox Cloud Gaming, GeForce NOW and Amazon Luna as cloud options. Cloud play streams the game rather than rendering it locally, so it can be an alternative when a Galaxy device does not meet Fortnite’s native requirements or has little storage. It still depends on regional service availability, the service’s device and account rules, a supported browser or app, and a stable connection. Cloud gaming does not make every old device suitable.

For GeForce NOW on Android phones and tablets, NVIDIA lists Android 7.0 or later, OpenGL ES 2.0 or higher, and at least 1 GB of available memory. NVIDIA recommends 15 Mbps for HD streaming up to 60 FPS, 25 Mbps for FHD at 60 FPS, and latency below 80 ms to an NVIDIA data center. These are GeForce NOW streaming requirements, not Epic’s native Fortnite requirements. See NVIDIA’s system requirements.
Cloud plans, queues, session limits and prices vary and can change. Check the provider’s current terms for your country before signing up; a cloud service may have conditions even though Fortnite itself is free to play.

Touch controls, controllers and keyboard support
Touch controls
Native Fortnite on Android supports touch play, so no accessory is required. NVIDIA also documents on-screen Fortnite touch controls for supported Android devices using GeForce NOW; details are on its Fortnite mobile page. Touch is convenient, though some players may find aiming and movement less precise than with a controller. Cloud streaming can also make input delay more noticeable.
Controllers
Epic says external controllers can be used with Fortnite on mobile and that using an external device does not result in an account ban. It does not guarantee that every controller or device combination will work. Xbox Wireless Controllers, PlayStation DualSense or DualShock 4 controllers, and compatible Android controllers are possibilities, but pairing, firmware, Android version and cloud-service support matter. Check Epic’s supported-device guidance before relying on a particular setup.

Keyboard and mouse
Epic’s current guidance says keyboard and mouse are not supported for Fortnite gameplay on mobile, including when using Xbox Cloud Gaming, GeForce NOW or Amazon Luna. A keyboard may work for typing or navigating parts of a service, but do not count on it as a gameplay control method.

Choose native play if the Galaxy meets the requirements and your connection is limited or unstable. Consider cloud play if the device is unsupported, storage is tight, or you play occasionally and prefer not to manage large downloads. Neither option guarantees a particular frame rate or connection experience.
Troubleshoot installation and crashes
Fortnite does not appear in Google Play
- Check the device’s Android version and compare its hardware with Epic’s current requirements.
- Check whether the listing is unavailable for your account, region or device. Store availability can change.
- Use Epic’s official Samsung Fortnite page to try the Epic Games Store route.
- If the device does not qualify for native play, check cloud-service availability instead.
The Epic installer will not open
- Verify the file came from Epic’s official Android download page.
- Check whether Auto Blocker or another Samsung security setting prevented installation; search Settings for the relevant setting rather than relying on a menu path that may differ by One UI version.
- Make sure the device has enough free storage and can run the Epic Games Store app.
- If an old Epic Games app or installer is present, follow Epic’s current Samsung instructions for moving to the current Epic Games Store route.
Fortnite installs but crashes or runs poorly
Compatibility and good performance are different questions. Check available storage and memory, close background apps, install system and store updates, and consider heat or device-specific graphics issues. If the game crashes after an interrupted download, reinstall it from an official source. For stuttering, distinguish local frame-rate trouble from network lag: cloud streaming depends on connection quality, while native performance is more directly affected by the Galaxy’s hardware and temperature.

Use the Epic account you want to keep
Epic describes Fortnite on Android as the mobile version of the game with cross-platform account progression. Sign in with the same Epic account used on your console or PC if you want eligible progression and purchases associated with that account. Be careful not to create or select a second account through a different sign-in method by mistake. Platform-specific items, promotions and controls are not guaranteed to behave identically on every device. Details are on Epic’s Android store page.
