No. Split Fiction has no solo mode: it is designed for two human players to play together. You can team up locally on one PS5 or play online, where one person can own the full game and invite the other through Friend’s Pass.
Does Split Fiction have a solo mode?
No. PlayStation’s Split Fiction FAQ says the game is designed exclusively as a two-player cooperative experience. You need another person to play; the official guidance does not describe an AI partner, solo campaign, or matchmaking option.
Ways to play together

How Friend’s Pass works
Friend’s Pass has two distinct uses. If neither player owns the full game, both can download the pass and play the first two levels as a demo. To continue beyond those levels, one player must own the full game. The owner can then invite a friend who has installed Friend’s Pass, and EA says that invited player can join the full game for free. Progress from the demo carries over. For an online session, both players need to be online and have accounts for their platforms. EA says an EA Account is needed to invite a friend, and console players each need PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass for online play. Friend’s Pass also requires a persistent internet connection and an applicable platform account. Check the current platform requirements for your specific setup, since subscription names and terms can change.

Is cross-play supported?
Yes, EA describes cross-play support. Its help page lists PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, while its purchase page also lists Nintendo Switch 2 and markets cross-play across PlayStation, Xbox, Switch 2, and PC. Because EA’s pages enumerate supported platforms differently, check the current store listing and invite settings for the platforms you plan to connect. - Choose local co-op if you have a partner beside you and a compatible console setup. On PS5, that means two DualSense controllers.
- Choose online co-op if your partner is elsewhere. One full-game copy is enough for the owner to invite a Friend’s Pass player into the full adventure, subject to the online requirements.
- Try the demo first if neither of you has bought the game; the Friend’s Pass demo covers the first two levels, but one of you must own the game to continue.
Since there is no solo mode, line up a co-op partner before buying if you want to play the campaign. EA’s March 6, 2025 launch announcement gave a U.S. launch price of $49.99; that historical launch price does not establish the current price. Read EA’s launch announcement.
