No—not directly. A PS5 cannot install or run games from your Steam library, and Valve does not list PS5 as a supported Steam Link destination. If a Steam game also has a PS5 edition, you can play that separate PlayStation version. To stream your Steam library to a TV, use a PC and a supported streaming device instead.
Can you install Steam games on a PS5?
No. The PS5 does not have an official Steam client or provide an environment for installing the PC versions of games sold through Steam. A Steam purchase will not appear in your PS5 Game Library or become available in PlayStation Store just because you own it on another platform.
As of August 16, 2026, Valve does not list PS5 as a supported Steam Link or Steam Remote Play destination. Valve’s supported-device information describes streaming from a computer running Steam to compatible devices such as phones, computers, Apple TV, Android TV and Fire TV—not to a PlayStation console. If the game is on both Steam and PS5
You can play it on PS5 by obtaining its PlayStation edition, if one is available. The PC and console editions are separate platform entitlements, and buying one usually does not grant the other. Publisher-specific cross-buy or upgrade programs may be exceptions, so check the game’s PlayStation Store listing and publisher support information.

Related features do not automatically transfer a purchase:
- Cross-play lets players on different platforms play together; it does not grant another platform’s copy.
- Cross-save or cross-progression may carry progress or items between platforms when the developer supports it; it does not necessarily transfer ownership.
- Cross-buy is a separate entitlement offered only for particular games or programs.
Before buying the PS5 edition, check whether its listing includes the desired edition and DLC, and whether the publisher supports transferring saves, progress or cosmetics from Steam.

Why PS Remote Play won’t stream Steam games to your PS5
The two services with “Remote Play” in their names send games in opposite directions:
- Steam Remote Play: a PC running Steam sends a game’s video and audio to a supported client, which returns controller input to that PC.
- PlayStation Remote Play: a PS5 or PS4 streams its games to a supported device, such as a PC or Mac. It does not turn the PS5 into a receiver for PC games.
Sony’s setup instructions are for connecting a device to a PS5 or PS4, not connecting a PC’s Steam library to a PS5. Sony’s PlayStation Remote Play guide

Ways to play Steam games on a TV
Stream from a gaming PC with Steam Link
If you already own a gaming PC, it can run the game while a supported client device displays it on the television. The PC remains the host; Steam Link does not install the game on the TV or PS5.

- Enjoy smooth and fluid high frame rate gameplay at up to 120 fps for compatible games, with support for 120Hz output on 4K displays.
- PS5 consoles support an 8K output, so you can play games on your 4320p resolution display.
- Maximize your play sessions with near-instant load times for installed PS5 games.
- 825GB SSD allows ultra-fast load times, while 3-D audio output produces crisp acoustics.
- Explore uncharted virtual territories and slay dragons with this sleek Sony PlayStation 5 gaming console.
- Install Steam on the gaming PC and install the game there.
- Install Steam Link on a supported endpoint, such as a compatible Android TV, Apple TV, Fire TV, phone, tablet or another computer. Check the device’s operating system and app availability.
- Pair or connect the Steam Link client to the computer running Steam.
- Connect a compatible controller to the client device or host PC, then launch the game through Steam Link.
A wired connection for the host PC—and for the client where practical—can help avoid Wi-Fi congestion, but streaming quality and input delay still depend on the network and equipment. Some games also have launcher, anti-cheat, controller or keyboard-and-mouse requirements that make them less convenient to stream. Valve Steam Remote Play
Connect the PC directly to the television
You can run Steam on a PC connected to the TV, including over HDMI, and play from that computer. A DualSense can be connected to a PC or compatible streaming device in some setups, but controller support depends on the device, game and service. Using a PS5 controller does not mean the PS5 is running the game.

The PS5 is not a practical HDMI bridge: its HDMI port is an output, not a normal video input for a PC. Unofficial browser or capture-device workarounds are not equivalent to supported Steam integration and may add complexity or latency.
Use GeForce NOW on a supported device
NVIDIA GeForce NOW can stream some games associated with supported stores, including Steam, on supported computers, TVs, handhelds and other devices. PS5 is not listed as a supported endpoint. The service’s catalog is limited to compatible titles, so owning a Steam game does not guarantee it can be streamed through GeForce NOW. Check both device support and the game catalog before relying on it. NVIDIA GeForce NOW system requirements · NVIDIA GeForce NOW
NVIDIA lists internet targets of 15 Mbps for HD at up to 60 fps and 25 Mbps for Full HD at 60 fps, and recommends latency below 80 ms to a data center. Those are service requirements and guidance, not a promise of lag-free play; your connection and distance to the server affect results. NVIDIA also lists DualSense and DualShock 4 among supported gamepads, but support can still vary by game and device.

| Your situation | Most suitable route | What to keep in mind |
|---|---|---|
| You own a gaming PC and want to play in the living room | Steam Link on a supported TV device, or connect the PC to the TV | The PC runs the game; network quality, controller support and game requirements matter. |
| You want a portable device with native Steam access | Steam Deck or another PC handheld | Compatibility and performance vary by game; it is not a substitute for PS5 exclusives. |
| You do not own a gaming PC | Consider GeForce NOW on a supported device | Confirm that both the device and specific game are supported; a subscription does not include every game. |
| You want one particular game on PS5 | Check for and obtain its PS5 edition | Steam ownership, saves, DLC and PlayStation entitlements may be separate. |
Steam Deck for a Steam-first library
Steam Deck is a portable PC gaming device designed for Steam with a console-like interface, and it can be docked for TV play. It is a more direct fit than a PS5 if your priority is running Steam purchases. Game compatibility and performance vary, and games that require an internet connection remain online-dependent. Valve says installed games can generally be played offline unless an individual game requires a connection. Valve Steam Deck · Valve Steam Deck FAQ

Common mix-ups
- “It supports cross-play, so I can download it on PS5.” Cross-play concerns multiplayer between platforms, not store ownership.
- “PS Remote Play will send my PC game to the console.” It streams from PlayStation consoles to supported devices, not from a PC to PS5.
- “Every Steam game works on GeForce NOW.” Only compatible games in the service’s supported catalog are available.
- “The PS5 can take my PC’s HDMI signal.” The console’s HDMI port is for output, not ordinary video input.
