Yes. You can stream supported Xbox Cloud Gaming titles to select Meta Quest headsets without owning an Xbox console. Most Game Pass games require an eligible active plan, but supported free-to-play cloud games can be played with a free Microsoft account in supported regions. You’ll also need a compatible controller and a suitable internet connection.
How cloud gaming works on Quest
Xbox Cloud Gaming streams a supported game from the cloud to your headset; it does not install or run a local Xbox copy on Quest. Xbox lists select Meta Quest headsets as compatible devices. The cloud catalog is not necessarily the full Game Pass library: availability depends on the specific game, plan, region, platform, and current service offering. Xbox also offers cloud streaming for select games users own or have purchased, subject to availability. Check Xbox Cloud Gaming for current game and service details.
What you need
- A supported headset: Xbox names Meta Quest 2, Quest Pro, Quest 3, and Quest 3S. Check Xbox’s current VR headset information for compatibility and availability.
- An eligible account or plan: Most Game Pass cloud titles require an eligible active Game Pass plan and a Microsoft account. Some free-to-play cloud titles are an exception: they can be played with a free Microsoft account in supported regions.
- A compatible controller: Xbox requires a compatible controller connected by Bluetooth or USB. If you already own a suitable controller, check its compatibility before buying another.
- A suitable internet connection: Xbox lists 10 Mbps as a minimum, says some devices may need 20 Mbps for best quality, and recommends 5 GHz Wi-Fi. Xbox Wire separately recommends at least 20 Mbps for a stable cloud gaming connection. These are published guidance figures, not a guarantee of performance on Quest; results vary with your connection, location, and device.

The Horizon+ benefit is a separate Meta offer, not a requirement for Xbox Cloud Gaming generally. Meta’s live Horizon+ page describes its terms; availability and eligibility can vary by region.
How to get started
- Confirm that your headset is one of Xbox’s supported Quest models and that Xbox Cloud Gaming is available in your region.
- Sign in with the Microsoft account you intend to use. Check whether the game you want is cloud playable and whether it requires an eligible Game Pass plan; alternatively, choose a supported free-to-play cloud title.
- Connect a compatible controller to the Quest by Bluetooth or USB.
- Use Xbox’s current Quest support or app instructions to open the cloud gaming experience, then choose a game. Exact app steps can change, so follow the live instructions rather than relying on an old menu path.
- If play stutters or image quality suffers, check the connection first. Xbox recommends 5 GHz Wi-Fi; its published guidance ranges from a 10 Mbps minimum to a 20 Mbps recommendation for best quality or a stable connection.

Which route should you use?
- You do not own an Xbox: Use Xbox Cloud Gaming on a supported Quest; Remote Play is not the route for you.
- You want a Game Pass title: Check that the specific title is cloud playable in your region and that your plan is eligible.
- You want to try a free game: Look for a supported free-to-play cloud title; an eligible Game Pass subscription is not required for those titles in supported regions.
- You have Horizon+ but not Game Pass: Check Meta’s current regional and eligibility terms for the separate Starter Edition benefit; do not assume it is included with every Quest or available everywhere.
- You own an Xbox and want to stream your own console: Remote Play is a distinct option, but it depends on having that console.
