No—not as a new download. Nintendo’s current Pokémon Bank notice says the app is “not currently available for download.” If you downloaded it before the Nintendo 3DS eShop closed new purchases and downloads on March 27, 2023, Nintendo’s transfer instructions say you can use it to move Pokémon to Pokémon HOME while the service remains available.
Can I download Pokémon Bank now?
No. Nintendo says Pokémon Bank is not currently available for download, and the 3DS eShop stopped offering new purchases and downloads of free content, including demos, on March 27, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time. Nintendo specifically lists Pokémon Bank among the paid content that can no longer be purchased in the eShop. Can I redownload Pokémon Bank if I had it before?
Nintendo generally says that previously acquired 3DS software can be redownloaded for the foreseeable future through the eShop’s Redownloadable Software menu. However, its Pokémon Bank-specific notice says the app is not currently available for download, so that general policy is not a guarantee that Bank will appear or download for every account or console.
- On the 3DS, open Nintendo eShop.
- Choose Settings / Other, then Redownloadable Software.
- Select Pokémon Bank, if it is listed, and choose Download.
This is Nintendo’s general redownload path for previously acquired software. Its redownload instructions do not override the current Bank-specific availability notice.

What if Pokémon Bank is already on my 3DS?
Nintendo’s transfer guide says Pokémon Bank must have been downloaded before March 27, 2023, to use it for transfers. Bank became free to use on that date, but the free access did not make it available as a new download after the eShop cutoff. Nintendo’s Pokémon Bank transfer instructions describe how to move Pokémon to Pokémon HOME.
Moving Pokémon to HOME is one-way
After a Pokémon is transferred from Bank to HOME, it cannot be returned to Bank or used with Nintendo 3DS titles. Before starting, decide whether you are willing to give up that 3DS-side use.

How to start a transfer
- Make sure you have Pokémon HOME and open it.
- Start the move from Pokémon Bank to Pokémon HOME in HOME and obtain the short-lived Moving Key.
- Enter that key in Pokémon Bank on your 3DS to begin the transfer.
Nintendo’s support pages provide the current steps; check them again when you are ready to move Pokémon in case the instructions have changed.
When does Pokémon Bank shut down?
Nintendo says Pokémon Bank service, including transfers from Bank to HOME, will end on February 25, 2027, at 7:00 p.m. PST. If you can open Bank and want its Pokémon in HOME, complete the transfer before that deadline. The deadline is stated in Pacific Standard Time; readers outside Nintendo of America’s support region should check their local Nintendo support information.

What changed with 3DS online services?
Nintendo ended general 3DS online play and other network features on April 8, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. PDT. At the time, Nintendo said Pokémon Bank and Poké Transporter would continue online for a time. Bank’s separate end-of-service date is February 25, 2027, at 7:00 p.m. PST—not the general online shutdown date. See Nintendo’s Bank notice for its current service deadline.
