Players who finished it before it ended keep their rewards; the walkthrough below is for historical reference only.
Why you can’t start the quest now
Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Shadows FAQ says the quest is no longer accessible. The event originally ran from November 25 through December 22, 2025, as part of Title Update 1.1.6. Buying the game or related physical media does not restore access.
Ubisoft says related store offers remain available for purchase until November 24, 2027; items bought before then remain in the buyer’s inventory. That does not reopen the quest or provide its mission experience.
Where the quest started during the event
When it was active, the free quest required Yasuke to be unlocked. Ubisoft placed the quest giver in Yamashiro, north of Hanazo Tower; the objective-board marker appeared only after interacting with the giver, according to the Title Update 1.1.6 notes.

The walkthrough’s opening mission is called “Beyond the Walls.” It says to search near Hanazono Castle in northern Yamashiro, by the road along the Omi border, and loot a Scout Regiment captain’s body beside a boulder. Reading the letter triggers the mission; the objective was not listed on the board beforehand. These directions cannot restore access after the event ended.
Historical walkthrough: “Beyond the Walls”
Free Ada at Hanazono Castle
Approach the castle quietly, work through the ruins and rooftops to reach the captive, defeat the guards, then free Ada. The walkthrough recommends Yasuke for the armored courtyard fight, but that is its tactical advice, not an official character requirement. A red chest near the hostage room contains the Protector’s Helmet and Damage on Parry engraving.

- Loot the Training Corps Emblem Banner chest.
- Throw a shuriken at explosive jars to open blocked routes, and break crystal barriers with a weapon.
- Grapple from stalactites, then cross platforms, ropes, and crystal walls.
- Look through a small window for a concealed explosive jar. Use ropes and ledges carefully to avoid falling into the fog.
- Collect the Military Police Banner, Garrison Banner, and Scout Regiment Banner from later chests.
An optional Eren Yeager Crystal Statue is in a chest beneath the Titan statue in the cavern arena. The walkthrough recommends dealing with Lord Ritter and nearby guards before returning to the main route. Near Gautwin’s prison, release the grapple before it reaches its apex to avoid dropping to the floor.
Fight Albrecht, then escape the Titan
For the Albrecht encounter, the guide advises taking out enemies with firearms and explosives first. As Yasuke, parry Albrecht’s slower spear attacks and dodge his red thrusts.
After Albrecht transforms, the sequence becomes a chase rather than a boss fight. Keep sprinting, jump gaps promptly, use Yasuke’s shoulder charge to break crystal walls, and move quickly over ledges. The walkthrough warns that being caught results in instant death.
Choose Gautwin’s ending
At the final story choice, Gautwin can return home or leave with Ada. The walkthrough favors his return home for narrative reasons, but does not establish that either option changes gameplay rewards.
What the event awarded
Ubisoft’s update notes confirm that completing the quest awarded a crystal katana and could unlock hideout customization such as banners and a statue. The walkthrough names the completion rewards as the Cavern Shard legendary katana, Reactive Shell engraving, and 3,000 XP. Those rewards remain relevant to players who completed the event before it ended; there is no current route to earn them through the quest.
Can you get the Cavern Shard katana now?
Not by starting this crossover quest: Ubisoft says it is no longer available. The game’s purchase, an Attack on Titan product, or a visit to the old quest location does not bring it back. Ubisoft’s FAQ is the source for current access status.
