Not directly. YouTube’s documented RSS feature imports selected podcast episodes as videos; it is not an RSS-to-live input. To play an episode during a YouTube Live broadcast, send its audio and compatible video through a live-encoder workflow. If the feed is private or password-protected, YouTube’s published setup instructions do not confirm that it can import it.
RSS podcast delivery and YouTube Live do different jobs
| Question | RSS episode delivery | Live encoder broadcast |
|---|---|---|
| What does YouTube receive? | A podcast RSS URL and the episodes selected for upload. | An incoming audio/video stream associated with a live broadcast. |
| What does the audience get? | Episode videos in a YouTube podcast playlist. YouTube uses the podcast’s show art for a static-image video. | A viewer-facing live event that plays while the encoder sends the stream. |
| How is access controlled? | Episode visibility settings. Episodes are initially uploaded as private; after the podcast is published, new episodes are public by default unless visibility is changed. | The broadcast can be public, private, or unlisted. |
| Does YouTube need to read the feed during a live broadcast? | Yes, for RSS delivery. Ownership verification uses a code sent to the email address in the feed. | No RSS pull is needed: the creator sends the episode’s audio/video through the live workflow. |
| Can an authenticated feed be imported? | Not established by YouTube’s published setup instructions. | Not relevant to the incoming-stream workflow. |
YouTube Help describes RSS submission as a way to create videos for selected podcast episodes. The YouTube Live Streaming API overview, by contrast, describes an incoming stream that carries the audio and video and is associated with a broadcast. These are separate workflows, not two settings for the same input.
If your goal is to publish podcast episodes on YouTube
Use YouTube Studio’s RSS delivery feature if your channel is in an eligible country or region and your feed can complete setup and ownership verification. It creates episode videos rather than a live event. Check YouTube’s current RSS feed delivery available locations before planning around this option; availability depends on the channel owner’s location.
- In YouTube Studio, start the podcast RSS-feed connection and submit the feed URL.
- Complete ownership verification using the code sent to the email address in the feed.
- Select the episodes and visibility options for initial uploads and future RSS uploads.
- Review the resulting podcast and episode visibility before publishing. Initial uploads are private; once the podcast is published, episodes are public by default unless you change the visibility settings.
YouTube’s RSS delivery instructions explain the episode-import process. YouTube’s location list explains regional eligibility.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
What if the feed is password-protected?
YouTube documents email-code ownership verification, but the published instructions do not say whether it accepts password-protected feeds, tokenized feed URLs, or other authenticated RSS URLs. Do not assume that a private feed will connect. Check with YouTube or your podcast host about the exact feed format before relying on RSS import.
If your goal is to play an episode during a private YouTube Live event
Create a YouTube Live broadcast and send the episode’s audio together with a compatible visual stream using a live-encoder workflow. The encoder could be software or another suitable setup; YouTube’s cited API overview explains the incoming-stream model but does not prescribe a particular brand, computer, microphone, or encoder.

- Prepare the episode audio and the video to accompany it. If the source is audio-only, arrange a compatible visual rather than expecting YouTube Live to pull audio from the RSS feed.
- Create the YouTube Live broadcast and choose its privacy setting before sharing it.
- Set up your encoder to send the episode audio and video as the incoming stream associated with that broadcast.
- Start the encoder’s stream and confirm the broadcast is receiving the intended audio/video before inviting viewers or sharing the event.
Choose private or unlisted deliberately
- Private: restricted to viewers you explicitly invite.
- Unlisted: anyone with the link can watch. It is not limited to invited viewers.
- Public: available publicly on YouTube.
These privacy settings control who can watch; they do not turn an RSS feed into a live input. YouTube’s Live Streaming API overview explains the broadcast and incoming-stream model and the privacy options.
Check rights before playing the episode live
A private or unlisted event is not exempt from YouTube’s live copyright checks. YouTube says all live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content. If it detects a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder and warn you; if the material remains, it may interrupt or terminate the stream. Even if you have a licence, the rights holder may need to add your channel to a Content ID allowlist. Review music, clips, and other third-party material in the episode and any accompanying visuals before streaming. See YouTube Help’s copyright guidance for live streams.

Or let it run in the cloud
If you have a prepared video version of the episode and want it to keep playing as a YouTube live stream, StreamNeo is a cloud option: upload the video, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It loops uploaded videos; it does not connect to or pull from a podcast RSS feed, and it does not go live from a camera.
- Nothing has to stay on at home: the stream runs from the cloud rather than depending on your computer or home connection remaining on.
- Any quality up to 4K 60fps streams as uploaded at one flat price per slot, with no re-encode or quality tiers.
- It automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream.
- The first day is free, with no card required.
The Monthly price is $9.99 per month. For a feed that remains private or requires authentication, first obtain the episode video through a route you are authorized to use; StreamNeo does not resolve YouTube’s undocumented private-feed compatibility.
