Yes—but a YouTube playlist’s Loop button only repeats playback for the viewer. To broadcast prerecorded gameplay as an actual 24/7 YouTube Live stream, you need a live feed sent through an encoder or compatible cloud service. YouTube lists continuous streaming of prerecorded video as a supported use for a cloud service, but a playlist does not become a livestream by itself.
Loop a gaming playlist for your own viewing
If you only want gaming videos to repeat while you watch, open a video from the playlist and turn on Loop in the playlist controls. YouTube documents repeat playback on computers, mobile devices, TVs, and gaming consoles. The loop affects playback for that viewer; it does not create a public live broadcast. Broadcast prerecorded gameplay as a 24/7 live stream
A creator who wants viewers to see a continuous live broadcast must send video to YouTube Live using an encoder or a compatible streaming service. YouTube describes encoder streaming as a way to share a screen or broadcast gameplay, and its encoder guidance includes a cloud option for continuous streams of prerecorded videos. That establishes the workflow, not a one-click way to turn any YouTube playlist into a live stream.
Set up a creator-run stream
- Check channel eligibility. YouTube’s general live-streaming guidance says a channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days; the minimum age to livestream is 16. First-time activation may take up to 24 hours. Check YouTube’s current live-streaming eligibility and setup requirements before scheduling.
- Open YouTube Live Control Room and create a stream. Configure the broadcast there, then connect a software or hardware encoder—or a compatible cloud service—to send the video feed. YouTube’s encoder instructions explain the general workflow and list supported encoder options.
- Provide the prerecorded gameplay feed. Use a tool that can continuously send the selected video or playlist as a live feed. Do not assume that starting playlist playback in a browser sends it to Live Control Room; the encoder or service must transmit the feed.
- Keep the archive requirement separate. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, but warns that a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. If you need a dependable recording, retain a local copy rather than relying on a 24/7 broadcast archive. See YouTube’s live-stream archive guidance.
Choose between local and cloud encoding
A local software or hardware encoder can send the feed from your own equipment; YouTube supports encoder streaming for gameplay. The trade-off is that the equipment and connection carrying the feed have to remain available for the broadcast. A cloud service can run the stream away from your home setup. YouTube’s encoder listings establish that prerecorded continuous streaming is a supported use case, but do not require a particular provider.

Meet copyright and YouTube policy requirements
Before using gameplay footage in a continuous broadcast, confirm that you have the rights needed for the footage and any music or other third-party material. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content; a match can lead to a placeholder replacing the stream or to interruption or termination. Even with a license, a rights owner may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Read YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams and ensure your permissions cover live use.
Gameplay monetization depends on the game publisher’s commercial-use terms. YouTube says extended gameplay without commentary may not be accepted for monetization; its guidance describes instructional or educational commentary tied to gameplay as a potentially qualifying case under the stated conditions. Separately, YouTube’s channel monetization policy requires original, authentic content and excludes repetitive or mass-produced content under its inauthentic-content policy. Playlists are also subject to YouTube’s Community Guidelines. A playlist can violate policy because of how its videos are collected, even if the individual videos do not independently violate the rules. See YouTube’s playlists policy.

Troubleshoot common setup problems
- The playlist repeats, but viewers do not see a live broadcast: Loop is a viewer playback control, not a live encoder. Set up an encoder or compatible cloud service to send a feed to YouTube Live.
- You cannot start a live stream: Check channel verification, recent live-stream restrictions, and whether first-time activation has finished. YouTube says activation can take up to 24 hours.
- The stream is interrupted or replaced by a placeholder: Check for copyrighted music or other third-party material, confirm live-stream rights, and ask the rights owner about Content ID allowlisting if you are licensed.
- The broadcast has no dependable archive: Streams over 12 hours may not be captured. Keep a separate recording if preserving the full video matters.
- The stream is live but not eligible for monetization: Review the game publisher’s commercial-use terms and YouTube’s gameplay and channel monetization policies; a long, un-commented loop may not qualify.
