For a pre-recorded stream set up in Castr, the playlist limit is 2 files on Starter or Standard, 10 on Premium, and 15 on Ultra, according to Castr’s product page accessed October 3, 2026. These are Castr’s per-stream limits—not a stated limit for playlists created directly on YouTube.
What Castr’s playlist limit applies to
Castr’s pre-recorded streaming workflow plays uploaded or imported video files as a live broadcast and can send that broadcast to YouTube. The file count applies to the playlist in that Castr broadcast. It does not establish how many videos you can put in a native YouTube playlist, or how many ordinary on-demand videos you can upload to YouTube.
Castr describes pre-recorded streaming as a way to play a file as a standard live feed at a chosen time. That differs from an on-demand video, which viewers start individually from a video library. Castr’s official product page says, “No encoder or live source is needed.”
Playlist file limits by Castr plan
| Castr plan | Files in one pre-recorded stream playlist | Maximum file duration listed |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | 2 | 60 minutes |
| Standard | 2 | 120 minutes |
| Premium | 10 | 240 minutes |
| Ultra | 15 | Not stated on the cited product page |
Playlist counts and the listed duration limits are from Castr’s official product page, accessed October 3, 2026. Castr also says storage, concurrent pre-recorded streams, destinations, and loop availability vary by subscription. The available plan information does not provide a complete, durable matrix for every one of those limits, so check Castr’s current plan details for your account before subscribing.

How to create and schedule a pre-recorded stream
- Prepare the video files. Castr’s Help Center says this workflow supports MP4. You can upload files from a computer or import them from cloud storage. File size and media-file count depend on your subscription.
- Build the playlist within your plan’s limit. Add no more than 2 files on Starter or Standard, 10 on Premium, or 15 on Ultra. Also check each file against the maximum duration for your plan.
- Choose a schedule mode. Castr documents an Infinite Loop mode for repeating a playlist and a Schedule Date Time mode for starting at a specified date and time. The scheduler uses your device’s time zone, so verify that setting when planning a broadcast for viewers elsewhere.
- Select YouTube as a destination and configure the broadcast. Castr can deliver the pre-recorded stream to YouTube; available destination counts depend on plan. Follow Castr’s current setup flow to connect the destination and start or schedule the stream.
Video encoding settings: recommendations, not playlist limits
Castr’s recorded-video recommendations page, published December 18, 2023, lists MP4, constant bitrate, a 2-second keyframe interval, Full HD (1920×1080), 30 FPS, and 4,000 Kbps. These are recommendations for video preparation—not requirements that determine how many files your playlist can contain. Because that guidance is dated, check Castr’s current setup documentation if you need settings for a specific workflow.
What to check before choosing a plan
- How many files you need in one broadcast playlist.
- Whether any individual file exceeds the plan’s maximum duration.
- Whether the plan’s storage allowance can accommodate the files.
- Whether your intended loop behavior, concurrent streams, and number of destinations are included.
- That you are checking the Castr plan limit rather than assuming it is a YouTube playlist or upload quota.
