If your Castr stream is not starting on YouTube in India, first check the YouTube channel’s eligibility, then find out whether the feed reaches Castr and whether Castr can connect to the YouTube destination. The available platform guidance does not establish an India-specific block on sending an encoder stream from Castr to YouTube. A region setting in Castr is mainly an ingest-quality choice, not a way to change YouTube account eligibility.
Start by identifying where the stream stops
A Castr broadcast has two separate connections: your encoder or source sends video to Castr, and Castr sends it to YouTube. YouTube also checks whether the channel is allowed to go live. Use the point of failure to choose the right checks:
- No feed in Castr preview: investigate the encoder, source, network, and Castr ingest settings.
- Feed visible in Castr, but YouTube does not start: investigate the YouTube destination connection, stream key, required Studio action, and channel eligibility.
- YouTube reports an audio or stream-format problem: check the incoming stream format, including whether it has an audio track.
Castr’s setup guide recommends selecting a hosting region near the broadcaster for better ingest quality. That recommendation concerns the source-to-Castr leg; it does not show that a Castr region setting controls YouTube’s account rules. See Castr’s source and destination setup guide.
Check YouTube channel eligibility first
YouTube says a channel must be verified and have had no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days to stream. Its current general live-streaming guide also says creators must be at least 16. Check the channel’s status in YouTube Studio rather than assuming Castr or an Indian location is the cause. YouTube’s live-streaming guide and feature-access guide explain channel eligibility and verification.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Open YouTube Studio for the channel you intend to use.
- Open Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility and review the available feature status and verification requirements. YouTube’s feature-access guidance also describes phone verification.
- Check for a live-stream restriction, including one imposed within the previous 90 days. YouTube says a restriction can prevent streaming from another channel as well.
- If Studio indicates a restriction or an unmet eligibility requirement, resolve that with YouTube. Changing Castr’s hosting region or reconnecting its destination cannot remove a YouTube restriction.
Do not apply the mobile subscriber threshold to every Castr setup
YouTube’s requirement of at least 50 subscribers applies to live streaming through the YouTube mobile app. The mobile route also requires verification, no live-streaming restrictions in the prior 90 days, and live streaming enabled; first activation can take up to 24 hours. Those are mobile-app conditions, not a reason to assume an encoder-based Castr stream has the same subscriber threshold. Confirm the status of the specific channel in Studio and consult YouTube’s mobile live-streaming requirements.
Confirm the source reaches Castr
Before troubleshooting YouTube, check whether Castr is receiving the stream. Open the relevant Castr broadcast and inspect its preview and input health while the encoder or source is sending. Castr’s pre-broadcast test guide describes testing the incoming feed before enabling destinations.

- Send the encoder feed to Castr with destinations turned off.
- Check whether video appears in the Castr preview and whether input health indicates a stable feed.
- If the preview remains empty, verify that the encoder is sending to the intended Castr ingest address and that its stream key and output are correct. Check the source and network before changing YouTube settings.
- Use a stable wired connection for the test if available. Castr recommends wired connectivity for testing stream stability; it is a way to rule out wireless instability, not a fix for account eligibility or incorrect credentials.
- If the source reaches Castr but the preview is unstable, try the Castr hosting region closest to the broadcaster and test again. This can help with ingest quality; it does not alter YouTube’s channel eligibility.
Check the YouTube destination connection
Castr supports connecting YouTube through an account/API connection or by entering the YouTube server address and stream key manually. The relevant checks depend on which method you chose. Castr’s YouTube connection guide covers the setup options.
If you use a server address and stream key
- Confirm that the server address and key entered in Castr match the active stream setup in YouTube Studio. A key from another stream or an old setup can send Castr to the wrong destination.
- Keep the key private. Do not paste it into public posts, screenshots, or support messages visible to others.
- Make sure the YouTube Studio live page is open and use its Go Live action when the workflow requires it. Receiving the encoder feed in Castr does not itself complete every YouTube-side start step.
If you use an account/API connection
- Check that Castr is connected to the intended YouTube account and channel, especially if the Google account manages multiple channels.
- If the connection appears stale or the destination still will not start, Castr recommends removing and reconnecting the destination. For a key-based setup, generate a new YouTube key and update Castr with it.
After changing a destination, run a controlled test rather than waiting until a scheduled broadcast. Castr’s troubleshooting guide includes reconnecting the destination and creating a new key among its recommendations for persistent connection problems.

Run a private or unlisted test before the event
A test can show whether the source, Castr ingest, and YouTube destination work together without making the broadcast public. Castr recommends first checking the feed with destinations off, then testing a private or unlisted YouTube stream; use a stable wired connection if possible.
- Send the source to Castr with destinations disabled and confirm the feed appears in preview.
- Enable the YouTube destination and start a private or unlisted test stream.
- Check whether YouTube receives the stream and whether Studio presents a further start action or an eligibility or format message.
- Note the exact point of failure. No Castr preview points upstream; a visible preview with no YouTube stream points toward the destination setup, YouTube-side steps, or channel status.
This process narrows the problem; it cannot override a restriction or make an incorrect key valid.

Check audio if YouTube reports a format problem
Some social destinations, including YouTube, may reject a feed that has no audio track, according to Castr’s 2026 documentation. If the error specifically concerns audio and the source is video-only, Castr describes using a silent audio track as a possible workaround. Treat this as a stream-format issue, not a consequence of broadcasting from India. See Castr’s audio requirements.

| What you see | Likely area to check | Next action |
|---|---|---|
| No picture in Castr preview | Encoder/source, network, or Castr ingest | Check the source output and ingest details; test with destinations off and a stable wired connection. |
| Picture in Castr preview, but no YouTube stream | YouTube destination or YouTube-side start step | Verify the selected channel and connection method; check the active key and Studio live page. |
| Destination connection continues to fail | Stale account/API connection or invalid key | Reconnect the destination; for key-based setup, generate and enter a fresh YouTube key. |
| YouTube says the channel cannot go live | Channel eligibility or restriction | Check verification, feature status, age requirements, and recent live-stream restrictions in Studio. |
| YouTube reports missing audio | Incoming stream format | Check whether the encoder sends an audio track; if the source is video-only, consult Castr’s audio guidance about a silent track. |
| The question is whether India blocks Castr | Country-specific policy is not established by the cited guidance | Do not infer a regional block from a failed stream. Verify the channel and each connection leg first. |
What the India-specific evidence does—and does not—show
YouTube provides an India-locale feature-access help page, but the cited YouTube and Castr guidance does not establish a country-specific prohibition on using Castr to send an encoder stream to YouTube from India. Nor does it establish that changing a Castr region or using a VPN would solve the problem. Focus on channel eligibility, the source-to-Castr feed, and the Castr-to-YouTube destination instead.

Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep uploaded video looping as a 24/7 YouTube stream rather than troubleshoot a live encoder feed, StreamNeo is an alternative workflow. It is for uploaded videos, not a camera-based live broadcast, and streams to YouTube.
- Upload a recording or build a playlist.
- Add your YouTube stream key once.
- Go live; StreamNeo loops the uploaded video from the cloud.
Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. Each slot streams the upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot regardless of quality; if YouTube drops the stream, StreamNeo automatically recovers. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. In India, UPI and cards are supported. See StreamNeo for details, or start the free first day.
