Cattle Country’s Bandits & Bounties update is out on console, Playtonic announced on October 5, 2026. The update adds bounty hunts, bandit camps, and surprise robberies and shootouts, alongside new crafting tools, inventory space, clothes, and other changes for the frontier life sim.
What the Bandits & Bounties update adds
Playtonic describes the update as bringing bounty hunting, bandit camps, store robberies, new tools, expanded inventory, new outfits, and more to the console version. Its outlaw encounters add danger to the game’s existing mix of farming, ranching, fishing, crafting, mining, and relationships.

Bounty hunts and bandit encounters
- Bounty hunting: Collect wanted posters at the Sheriff’s building, track a wanted bandit into the wilderness, then return to Sheriff Tom for a reward.
- Bandit camps: Camps can appear while exploring the overworld.
- Robberies and shootouts: Random incidents can take place at the General Store, Butcher, Carpenter, and Bank.
Portable crafting, storage, and equipment
- Toolbelt: Craft while away from a crafting table.
- Extra Large Bag: Expand inventory space to four rows.
- Animal Trap: Gather animal resources.
- Rock Tumbler: Break down rocks, with a chance to uncover rare gems.
- Tailoring Table: Make clothes and hats.
The update also lists new outfits, hats, head accessories, and red hair customization.
A fishing spot beyond the usual seasons
On Tuesdays and Saturdays, players can take a boat from the docks to a special fishing spot. Fish from every season can be caught there.

- Rodeos to Romance. Making friends is a must in the Wilderness, relying on each other through the thick and the thin. But maybe you've got a yearnin' for more? With 18 romanceable characters, take a chance and grab love by the reigns.
- Buried Treasure. Did yer hear? There's treasure in the mines, for those who are brave enough to look for it. From precious metals and minerals to bandit stashes. Grab your pickaxe and venture out into the thrill of prospecting.
Dialogue changes and fixes
Playtonic says NPC dialogue has been expanded. Its listed fixes include controller crafting and cooking issues, skin-color display, a crash in a French-language scene, animal-resource collection, seasonal invitation mail, and building upgrades being removed incorrectly. The publisher also notes additional fixes and improvements, so the examples should not be read as a complete list of every issue addressed.
What PS5 players should know
Playtonic’s October 5, 2026 announcement says Bandits & Bounties is out on console, establishing the update’s console release timing. The US PlayStation Store lists Cattle Country for PS5. Playtonic’s game page also lists a physical PS5 edition and links to Amazon UK; that listing does not establish stock, price, or availability elsewhere.

What kind of game is Cattle Country?
Developed by Castle Pixel and published by Playtonic Friends, Cattle Country launched on May 27, 2025. Playtonic describes it as a cozy cowboy adventure life sim: players can farm, fish, craft, mine, ranch, build relationships, and contend with bandits and robberies. “RPG” is one useful genre cue, but it is not the publisher’s sole or official description of the game.
The update expands the outlaw side of that frontier routine without replacing its life-sim activities. Its new ambushes and bounties sit alongside familiar work such as farming and crafting, while the Toolbelt and other additions offer more ways to handle everyday tasks.
