A Reddit post indexed that day carries a headline saying he is, but the game’s title, platform, release timing and his role in it are not established by any primary source found so far.
What the report actually says
The claim comes from a Reddit post whose headline reads “Not Sure What I’m Allowed to Say.” That phrasing is the headline’s wording, not a verified quote from Cox or Sega. The post links the headline to a conversation involving Cox and a Sega game that has not been named. Readers should treat it as a secondhand report.
Comments under the post speculate about which franchise might be involved. That speculation is not confirmation, and it should not be repeated as a likely identification.
What is confirmed about NYCC 2026
New York Comic Con 2026 runs October 8 to 11, 2026, at the Javits Center in New York City, according to the official event website. The site describes gaming programming and event livestreams.
#1 Best Overall
- Genesis Classic Console by AtGames
The official livestream information says some panels and interviews are streamed, and that programming is subject to change. It does not say whether any conversation with Cox was recorded or made available through the event. Nothing on the official pages checked corroborates the Reddit report or identifies a Sega title tied to the convention.
What remains unknown
- Game title: not named in any source located.
- Franchise or genre: not established. Community guesses are unverified.
- Platforms: not stated.
- Release timing: not stated.
- Cox’s role: not established. Whether he would be a playable character, a voice performer, or appear in some other capacity is unknown.
- Sega’s position: no Sega announcement or statement about Cox was located.
What would confirm the story
A report like this becomes reliable reporting once one of the following exists:
Rank #2
- 3 GAME SLOT: Includes 3 built-in cartridge slots that are compatible with Original Sega Genesis, Original NES and Original SNES games
- HD PLUS: Experience your old classics in 720P clarity!
- UNMATCHED COMPATABILITY: Trio is ranked #1 is compatability with original cartridges. Best selling Retro Console year after year.
- ACCESSORY COMPATABILITY: Dust off and bring out your old accessories. The Retro Trio is compatible with original NES, SNES and Genesis controller port accessories!
- A recording or transcript of the conversation that the headline describes, showing what Cox actually said.
- An official announcement from Sega naming the game and, if applicable, Cox’s credited role.
- A listing on the official NYCC schedule or a livestream page showing a Sega or Cox session.
Until one of these appears, the accurate framing is that a Reddit post reports Cox is connected to an unannounced Sega game.
