Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallCrashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteThe error may say, “The code execution cannot proceed because christwareau.dll was not found,” “christwareau.dll is missing from your computer,” or “The specified module could not be found.” christwareau.dll is not a Windows file. It is associated with ChristWare: Among Us Edition, a third-party cheat DLL intended to be injected into Among Us.exe.
Which fix applies to you
Choose the situation that matches what you see:
- You only want to play Among Us: remove the injector, cheat files, and modified installation, then verify or reinstall the game.
- Your antivirus quarantined the file: do not restore it automatically. Review the detection, scan the computer, and remove the related cheat package unless you knowingly maintain the project.
- You develop or test the project: rebuild it from its source for the documented
x86, Releasetarget. Do not download an arbitrary precompiled replacement. - Among Us itself is now failing: verify the game files through Steam or the legitimate launcher, then start the unmodified game.
- The message names another DLL: repair that named dependency separately. A Microsoft runtime error is different from a missing
ChristWareAU.dll. - You see broader Windows problems: use DISM and System File Checker only after addressing the game modification.
There is no verified official binary release, publisher signature, hash, stable version, or supported current Among Us version for this DLL. That makes a random replacement download an unsafe starting point.
Fix 1: Remove the cheat and restore an unmodified Among Us installation
This is the safest fix for most players. A missing ChristWareAU.dll commonly means the injector, cheat package, or its DLL was deleted, quarantined, incompletely extracted, or no longer matches the modified game.
1. Close the game and injector
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
- Select Processes.
- End tasks for Among Us, an injector, mod loader, trainer, or unfamiliar launcher associated with the modification.
- Close File Explorer windows opened inside the mod folder.
Do not delete unrelated files from C:Windows or from another game.

2. Remove the unofficial package
- Open Settings with Windows key + I.
- Select Apps, then Installed apps.
- Uninstall any injector, loader, trainer, or unofficial Among Us modification that you recognize.
- In File Explorer, remove the folder that contained the injector and its related files.
- Empty the Recycle Bin.
If the files were extracted into a temporary folder or an AppData location, inspect the parent executable before deleting it. The filename alone is not enough to establish whether a file is trustworthy.
3. Check antivirus quarantine
Windows Security may have removed the DLL because the project performs game-process injection and gives the cheat control over gameplay.
- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Open the detection related to the injector, archive, or DLL.
- Choose Remove if the package is unwanted.
- Return to Virus & threat protection and select Scan options.
- Run a Full scan.
Do not disable antivirus protection simply to make the error disappear. No independent malware verdict for every copy of this exact file has been verified, but a security alert should not automatically be dismissed as a false positive.
4. Verify or reinstall Among Us
The exact menu wording differs between launchers, but look for Verify integrity, Verify files, or a similar repair command in the game’s library or installation settings.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
For Steam:
- Open Steam and select Library.
- Right-click Among Us and select Properties.
- Open Installed Files.
- Select Verify integrity of game files.
- Wait for the process to finish.
- Launch Among Us without an injector or mod loader.
If verification does not restore normal launching, uninstall Among Us from the legitimate launcher, restart Windows, and install it again from the official store. This repairs the game installation, not the cheat DLL.
How to tell it worked: Among Us starts without the christwareau.dll message and without an injector. If the same error returns before the game launches, look for a leftover shortcut, startup entry, loader, or mod folder.
Fix 2: Rebuild the project only if you intentionally develop it
If you knowingly work with ChristWare: Among Us Edition, do not obtain ChristWareAU.dll from a DLL mirror or an unofficial cheat bundle. Use the project source and inspect it before building.
The project instructions specify an x86, Release build and describe injecting the DLL into Among Us.exe. That indicates a 32-bit target for the documented build process, although it does not verify the architecture of every binary someone may distribute.

Use this process:
- Obtain the project source from its known public repository.
- Open the project in its supported development environment.
- Select the Release configuration.
- Select the x86 platform.
- Build the project.
- Keep the resulting DLL with the matching project files and injector.
- Do not mix it with binaries from another build or another Among Us version.
The public project does not establish compatibility with current Among Us releases. A successful compilation therefore does not guarantee that injection will work.
How to tell it worked: the build completes without errors and the injector can locate the DLL from the intended project output folder. If Windows reports that the module could not be loaded, identify whether the missing item is ChristWareAU.dll itself or one of its dependencies.
Fix 3: Check whether a dependency is actually missing
Windows loader messages can name ChristWareAU.dll even when a dependency beneath it is missing. The exact dependency set for a distributed copy has not been verified.
First, read the complete message carefully. If it names a Microsoft runtime DLL rather than ChristWareAU.dll, repair that runtime from Microsoft’s official Visual C++ Redistributable guidance. Choose the architecture that matches the application, not automatically the architecture of your copy of Windows.

Do not install every Visual C++ package indiscriminately. Older applications can require side-by-side runtime versions, but the correct package depends on the application and the missing dependency.
How to tell it worked: the loader message changes or disappears after the specific dependency is repaired. If the message still names ChristWareAU.dll, reinstalling a runtime has not recreated the missing cheat file and you should return to Fix 1 or Fix 2.
Fix 4: Check the file’s origin and quarantine history
If you found the DLL in a temporary folder, Downloads, or AppData, establish what installed it before taking action.
- Right-click the file and select Properties.
- Check the General tab for its location and a possible security unblock option.
- Open the Digital Signatures tab if it exists.
- Right-click the parent executable and inspect it in the same way.
- Review Windows Security protection history again.
- Scan the file’s containing folder and any archive that delivered it.
The absence of a digital signature does not prove malware, and a filename does not prove safety. No verified publisher, signature, file size, hash, or official release package is available for this DLL.

Fix 5: Do not use DLL registration or System32 copying
regsvr32 is not an appropriate repair for this file. The project describes ChristWareAU.dll as a module injected into Among Us.exe, not as an ActiveX or COM server.
Do not run:
regsvr32 ChristWareAU.dll
Registering an injected game module will not supply missing dependencies and may only produce another error.
Likewise, do not copy the file into:
C:WindowsSystem32
C:WindowsSysWOW64
Those folders are not general-purpose DLL storage. Copying an application-specific module there can create confusion and expose Windows to an untrusted file. A legitimate game installation or verified development output should provide its own files in an application-specific location.
Fix 6: Use Windows repair commands only for broader system corruption
SFC and DISM do not restore third-party cheat files. They repair protected Windows files and the Windows component store, so use them only if you also have symptoms such as damaged Windows components, repeated system errors, or broken built-in applications.

Run System File Checker
After DISM completes:
- Open Command Prompt as administrator again.
- Run:
sfc /scannow
- Wait until verification reaches 100 percent.
- Restart Windows.
- Retry the legitimate, unmodified game.
How to tell it worked: SFC reports that it found and repaired corrupted system files, and broader Windows symptoms improve. If christwareau.dll is still missing, that is expected because neither command recreates this third-party module.
Repeating SFC and DISM without knowing what changed can make troubleshooting slower. Outbyte PC Repair can scan for problems and show what needs attention, while the repair is performed by the full version; reinstalling Among Us remains the definitive fix when the game installation was modified.

christwareau.dll is not documented as a hardware driver, DirectX component, .NET file, or Windows feature. Device Manager and Windows Features therefore should not be your first repair tools.
Use Device Manager only if you have a separate hardware problem:
- Right-click Start and select Device Manager.
- Expand the category for the affected device.
- Right-click the device and select Update driver or Uninstall device.
- Restart Windows if you uninstall a driver.
- Obtain the replacement driver from the hardware manufacturer.
Do not enable random Windows Features to fix this DLL. Features such as .NET Framework or legacy components should be installed only when the application explicitly requires them.

Prevention
- Keep Among Us unmodified if your goal is simply to play.
- Avoid cheat mirrors, DLL download sites, and precompiled files with no verifiable provenance.
- Keep the injector, archive, and game files separate from Windows system folders.
- Do not restore a quarantined file merely because its absence causes an error.
- Back up legitimate game saves or settings before reinstalling.
- If you maintain source code, record the target architecture and dependencies for each build.
FAQ
Is christwareau.dll a Windows file?
No. It is associated with the ChristWare: Among Us Edition third-party cheat and is not a Microsoft runtime, system component, driver, DirectX file, or .NET file.
Should I download a replacement DLL?
No. A random replacement may contain malware, target the wrong architecture, be incompatible with the game, or hide the real problem. Remove the modification or rebuild from verified source if you intentionally develop it.
Is the file 32-bit or 64-bit?
The project instructions specify compiling as x86, Release, which indicates a 32-bit target for that documented build. The architecture of every distributed copy cannot be verified.
Can Visual C++ Redistributable fix it?
Only if the actual missing dependency is a Microsoft runtime. It does not recreate ChristWareAU.dll.
Can SFC or DISM restore it?
No. They repair protected Windows files and the Windows component store, not third-party game-injection modules.
Why does antivirus detect it?
The project performs game-process injection, a behavior that security products commonly treat as risky. Review the detection and quarantine history instead of assuming the alert is false.
