It is not a current giveaway: as of October 8, 2026, the cited reports do not establish a new free offer or a current price.
What the Epic Games Store offer was
PCWorld reported on July 18, 2025, and Windows Central on July 17, 2025, that Epic was giving away the PC version of Civilization VI: Platinum Edition for a limited time. PCWorld said players had to claim it by 11 a.m. on July 24, 2025, to keep it at no extra cost. The offer was a digital storefront promotion, not a physical giveaway. PCWorld’s report and Windows Central’s report describe the expired promotion.

What Platinum Edition included
The edition bundled the base game, two major expansions, and six scenario or civilization packs:
- Sid Meier’s Civilization VI
- Civilization VI: Rise and Fall
- Civilization VI: Gathering Storm
- Civilization VI – Viking Scenario Pack
- Civilization VI – Poland Civilization & Scenario Pack
- Civilization VI – Australia Civilization & Scenario Pack
- Civilization VI – Persia and Macedon Civilization & Scenario Pack
- Civilization VI – Nubia Civilization & Scenario Pack
- Civilization VI – Khmer and Indonesia Civilization & Scenario Pack
PCWorld describes these as the post-release packs included in Platinum Edition. But “all expansions and DLC” should not be read as every piece of content released for Civilization VI. Windows Central distinguishes Platinum Edition from Civilization VI: Anthology Edition, which covers a broader catalog; the reports do not provide a current price comparison.

What the reported deal details mean now
The two reports gave $79.99 as Platinum Edition’s regular price at the time in 2025. That is a historical figure, not a verified current price. The reporting establishes neither the game’s present Epic Games Store price nor another active giveaway as of October 8, 2026. Anyone checking availability now should consult the storefront directly rather than rely on the expired claim window.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Can you still claim it for free?
Not through the reported promotion. The deadline was July 24, 2025, so a player who claimed the game during the offer could keep that claim, but the offer cannot be treated as open now. The reports cover the Epic Games Store PC promotion and do not establish equivalent availability or pricing on other platforms.
