On Windows, the published targets range from 1080p at 30 FPS on Low to 4K at 60 FPS on High. Steam currently classifies the game as Steam Deck Verified; that label is not a specific performance guarantee.
Windows PC requirements
Civilization Support lists three Windows hardware tiers, each paired with a target resolution, frame rate, and graphics preset. These are published specifications, not independently measured performance results. The requirements page was published January 10, 2025, and updated May 26, 2026.
| Tier and target | Operating system | Processor | Memory | Graphics | Other requirements |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum: 1080p, 30 FPS, Low Graphics | Windows 10/11 64-bit | Intel i5-4690, Intel i3-10100, or AMD Ryzen 3 1200 | 8 GB RAM | NVIDIA GTX 1050, AMD RX 460, or Intel Arc A380 | DirectX 12; 20 GB available storage |
| Recommended: 1080p, 60 FPS, High Graphics | Windows 10/11 64-bit | Intel Core i5-10400 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600X | 16 GB RAM | NVIDIA RTX 2060, AMD RX 6600, or Intel Arc A750 | DirectX 12; 20 GB available storage |
| Ultra: 4K, 60 FPS, High Graphics | Windows 10/11 64-bit | Intel i7-14700F or AMD Ryzen 9 5950X | 32 GB RAM | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 or AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT | DirectX 12; 20 GB available storage |
Civilization Support’s PC system requirements state that the game is not guaranteed to run below the minimum specifications. The page also offers a compatibility checker to see whether a PC meets at least the minimum tier.
How to judge whether your PC meets the target
Compare the full tier rather than checking only the graphics card. The processor, RAM, operating system, graphics hardware, and free storage all matter. For example, an RTX 2060 meets the recommended graphics entry, but that alone does not establish that the rest of the computer meets the recommended tier.

Mac requirements
The listed Mac configurations require macOS Sequoia and Apple silicon. Steam specifically says Civilization VII is not compatible with macOS systems using Intel processors.
| Tier | Operating system | Processor and graphics | Memory | Available storage |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum | macOS Sequoia | 8-core Apple M1; M1 graphics | 8 GB RAM | 25 GB |
| Recommended | macOS Sequoia | 10-core M2 Pro; M2 Pro graphics | 16 GB RAM | 25 GB |
These are the configurations listed by Steam’s Civilization VII listing and Civilization Support. An Intel Mac does not qualify, even if its other components appear similar.

Linux requirements
The published Linux specifications distinguish Ubuntu versions as well as hardware. Check both the distribution version and the component tier.
| Tier | Operating system | Processor | Memory | Graphics | Available storage |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum | Ubuntu 22.04 | Intel i5-4690 or AMD Ryzen 3 1200 | 8 GB RAM | NVIDIA GTX 1060 or AMD RX 580 | 25 GB |

The support page does not attach Windows-style resolution, frame-rate, or graphics-preset targets to these Linux tiers. Treat them as the listed hardware thresholds, not as a promise of a particular performance level.

Steam Deck compatibility
Steam currently labels Civilization VII Verified for Steam Deck. This is Steam’s compatibility classification, not a stated frame-rate, battery-life, or graphics-settings guarantee. The desktop Linux requirements above are not a Deck-specific performance benchmark.
