In the statement quoted by Push Square, the game’s official account wrote: “When you play Expedition 33, you can expect 30+ hours of main game, and [just] as much side content for our completionist Expeditioners.”

What kind of RPG is it?
Sandfall describes the combat as “reactive turn-based.” Players have time to plan their actions on their turns, then respond to enemy attacks in real time—by dodging, jumping, or parrying. Xbox’s description also highlights counters, attack rhythms, and targeting enemy weak points. It is turn-based in its planning, but defensive timing is part of the action.
The game’s fantasy setting draws on Belle Époque France. Its story follows an expedition trying to stop the Paintress, whose yearly number determines who will be erased. These elements provide context for the game’s premise and combat, but they do not change the studio’s dated playtime estimate.

Xbox Wire reported on December 3, 2025, that the game was available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, and Xbox Cloud, and included with Game Pass Ultimate at that time. Subscription catalogs can change, so check the current Xbox catalog and plan details before relying on that access route.
