Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival is scheduled to launch October 8, 2026, but as of October 7 it has not been released. That means a verdict-style review—or claims about the finished game’s performance—would be premature. What can be assessed now is the official premise and feature set, plus a limited look at the pre-release demo: it introduces puzzle solving, crafting, and combat, while one hands-on preview found its controls somewhat clumsy and its AI in need of work.
Is Hellraiser: Revival out, and can it be reviewed yet?
No. Saber Interactive lists an October 8, 2026 release date, one day after the date of this article. The available hands-on impressions concern a pre-release demo, not the finished game. There is no basis here for a full review score or a conclusion about final performance, so this is a pre-release guide to what is confirmed and what the demo suggests.
Saber lists PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and Steam as platforms. Its FAQ describes the game as a single-player, first-person action horror survival game. Saber’s FAQ has the release and platform details.
What is the story, and how does it fit the films?
You play Aidan, who uses the Genesis Configuration—a puzzle box—to try to save his girlfriend, Sunny, from the Labyrinth. The box is more than a plot device: the official description also presents its powers as part of the gameplay.

Executive producer Nenad Tomic says the game draws on the atmosphere, themes, and mythos of the first two Hellraiser films, but tells a new story that is not directly connected to them. Clive Barker was involved from the beginning, according to Tomic’s Xbox Wire interview. This is the clearest official description of its relationship to the films; a pre-release preview has described a more specific timeline, but that should not be treated as the game’s definitive continuity statement.
Game director Emil Esov describes the Scarlet Church, led by Marlowe, as seeking contact with the Cenobites and hoping to use the box to create a “debauched paradise.” The Unworthy, meanwhile, are beings rejected by the Labyrinth and drawn to the Genesis Configuration, according to Esov’s PlayStation Blog post.
What does the gameplay involve?
The official pitch combines first-person survival-horror exploration with action, puzzles, and the puzzle box’s abilities. Aidan can also use earthly weapons. The Steam description names wretches, deviants, cultists, and priests among the threats; the demo listing says its sample includes puzzle solving, crafting, and combat.
That combination points to a game that is not presented as purely stealth-based or purely combat-focused. However, the available material does not establish how those systems balance across the full campaign. The demo covers only the prologue and part of Episode 1, so its slice cannot settle that question.
What do previews say about the demo?
Meristation’s Summer Game Fest 2026 hands-on report describes two broad kinds of sequences in the demo: exploration areas built around puzzles, combat, and stealth, and more linear, dreamlike passages with jump scares and shifting environments. The previewer preferred exploration to action, found the controls somewhat clumsy, and felt the enemy AI could improve. Those are impressions of the demonstrated build, not confirmed traits of the October 8 release.
The Steam demo listing says the free demo was released September 17, 2026. It warns that the build is pre-release and that progress will not carry over to the full game. Steam showed 91% positive from 1,224 demo reviews on October 7, 2026; that is a dated user-rating snapshot for the demo only, not a review score for the full game.

How long is it, and what are the editions?
Saber estimates a playthrough at around 8–12 hours. The FAQ does not specify a completion style or whether that estimate includes optional content, so treat it as the publisher’s general estimate rather than a guaranteed runtime. Saber also says post-launch content is not planned “at this time.”

The two official listings do not agree on the minimum processor or storage requirement. Both list Windows 10 64-bit (22H2 or later), 8 GB of minimum memory, and a GTX 1660/RX Vega 64-class minimum graphics card, but their other figures differ:

Because the CPU and storage requirements conflict, do not assume the lower figure is sufficient. Check Saber’s current FAQ and the Steam system requirements before buying or installing. No released-build performance testing is established here.
How intense is the content?
The ESRB rates the game M for Mature 17+ for Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Nudity, Strong Language, Strong Sexual Content, and Use of Drugs. Its rating summary mentions first-person traversal, puzzles, and combat with melee weapons, guns, and magic, alongside graphic torture and violence. The Steam disclosure additionally names consensual mutilation, drug and alcohol abuse, tobacco use, non-explicit consensual sex, and themes of suicide, domestic abuse, BDSM practices, and addiction. Read the full ESRB rating if those subjects are relevant to your decision.
What is confirmed—and what remains uncertain?
The release date, platforms, core premise, and broad gameplay mix are established by the publisher and storefront. The demo offers a limited sample, and the preview impressions describe that sample rather than the finished game. Until the game is available, final controls, AI, performance across platforms, and how well its systems work together remain unverified.
