Either way, YouTube’s encoder, archive, copyright, and monetization rules still apply. For a prerecorded Gurbani stream, the practical trade-off is less hands-on maintenance versus more direct control—not a proven difference in uptime or total cost.
How the options compare
A hosted service and a VPS can both keep prerecorded video streaming to YouTube, but they leave different jobs in your hands. A hosted service may manage more of the streaming workflow; check its current plan to confirm exactly what it handles. With a VPS, you rent a server and operate the streaming setup yourself.
| Option | What it means in practice | Best fit | What to verify |
|---|---|---|---|
| StreamNeo, a hosted cloud service | Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and start the stream. StreamNeo loops uploaded videos in the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not need to stay on. It advertises automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. | You want an always-on prerecorded YouTube stream without running the encoder on your own computer or maintaining a VPS. | Its advertised features and terms are provider claims, not independent proof of uptime or service quality. Review the current plan details before choosing. |
| Self-managed VPS | You install and configure streaming software, supply and manage the media, and take responsibility for restarts, monitoring, and troubleshooting. A VPS provider’s guide describes looping a file with FFmpeg or running OBS on a VPS. | You are comfortable managing a server and streaming software, want direct control, and can respond when the stream or server needs attention. | Check the instance’s sustained upload capacity, transfer limits or charges, storage, operating-system and software costs, and restart and monitoring options. |
The available evidence does not establish a universal winner, independently verified uptime, or a like-for-like current cost comparison. A hosted service can reduce the work you operate; it does not remove your responsibility for the channel or its content. A VPS gives you more control, but also more operational work.
When a hosted service is the better fit
- You want to upload recordings or prepare a playlist rather than keep a computer running as the encoder.
- You would rather not install, configure, monitor, and recover a server-based streaming process.
- You want the stream to continue without relying on your home computer or internet connection.
- You have confirmed that the service supports the workflow and media you need, and its current terms fit your budget.
StreamNeo is built for continuous prerecorded streaming to YouTube. Its listed features include 24/7 looping and playlists, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, support from the StreamNeo team, and 10 GB of storage per slot, pooled across active slots. It says uploaded video streams as made, up to 4K at 60 fps, with no re-encode and no quality tiers; every plan has the same product, with the billing length changing. These are StreamNeo’s product claims, not independent performance measurements. See StreamNeo for current details.

The monthly option is $9.99 per month. UPI and cards are available in India; card checkout is available worldwide. For five or more slots, contact support.
When a VPS is the better fit
- You can configure and maintain FFmpeg or OBS on a server, and you want to control the streaming process directly.
- You can monitor the stream and handle failures, software changes, and media-file management rather than expecting the VPS provider to operate the broadcast for you.
- You have checked the server’s network and billing terms against your stream’s resolution, frame rate, codec, and bitrate.
A VPS provider’s guide dated June 24, 2026 gives an example configuration for a 1080p FFmpeg file loop: 2 CPU cores, 4 GB RAM, and 8 Mbps upload. Those are that provider’s example figures, not a universal minimum or an independent recommendation. The same guide estimates about 1 TB of monthly data transfer for a 24/7 stream at 2,500 kbps; that is an example, not a quote for another bitrate or provider. Check the provider’s current plan limits and charges rather than treating either figure as a guarantee that a particular VPS will be suitable.

What operating a VPS involves
- Choose capacity for the stream you will actually send. Account for resolution, frame rate, codec, audio, whether the picture moves, and whether your setup must re-encode the video. Do not assume the example VPS figures suit your workload.
- Configure the streaming software and media loop. The provider guide describes FFmpeg for looping a file and OBS on a VPS as possible approaches. The correct configuration depends on your source files and stream settings; the example sizing figures alone are not a ready-to-run setup.
- Enter the YouTube stream key securely in the encoder. YouTube uses the key to identify the broadcast destination. Keep it private, and verify the selected stream and key in YouTube Studio before starting.
- Set and test the encoder parameters. Use a supported codec and YouTube’s bitrate guidance for your resolution and frame rate. Check YouTube’s stream health during a test rather than assuming that a server with sufficient stated upload capacity will produce a healthy stream.
- Arrange monitoring and recovery. A VPS provider’s example uses systemd restart behavior, but a restart configuration is not an uptime commitment. Decide how you will detect a stopped or unhealthy process and how you will restart it.
- Keep a separate recording if the stream matters as an archive. A YouTube live archive is not a dependable sole copy for a continuous broadcast; maintain a local or other separate backup appropriate to your needs.
Use YouTube-compatible encoder settings either way
Cloud hosting does not bypass YouTube’s ingest requirements. YouTube’s current encoder guidance recommends RTMPS, constant bitrate encoding, and a keyframe interval of two seconds, not exceeding four seconds. RTMPS carries RTMP over SSL; Google’s developer guidance specifies a valid YouTube RTMPS endpoint using port 443. Follow the endpoint and stream details shown for your broadcast in YouTube Studio.
| H.264 output | YouTube-recommended bitrate |
|---|---|
| 720p at 30 fps | 6 Mbps |
| 720p at 60 fps | 8 Mbps |
| 1080p at 30 fps | 14 Mbps |
| 1080p at 60 fps | 17 Mbps |
These are YouTube Help’s recommendations for the stated H.264 resolution and frame-rate combinations, in encoder guidance accessed in 2026. They are not VPS plan requirements or guarantees of stream quality. YouTube accepts a live feed and transcodes it for playback formats, so test the actual setup and watch stream health. Choose settings that your encoder and the selected service can deliver consistently.

Do not rely on YouTube’s archive for a nonstop recording
YouTube Help says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived and recommends keeping a local archive backup. It warns: “If your stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” A 24/7 broadcast therefore should not use the YouTube VOD as its only recording. Plan a separate recording or backup if preserving the full performance matters.

Confirm rights to the exact Gurbani recording and visuals
The fact that a stream contains Gurbani does not establish that a particular performance, recording, arrangement, or accompanying visual is free to use. YouTube’s live terms require the channel owner to have the necessary rights for worldwide exploitation, including music rights where applicable. YouTube’s live copyright system scans broadcasts, and a match can interrupt or terminate a stream. Even a licensed stream may be interrupted if the rights holder has not allowlisted the channel in Content ID. Confirm rights for the exact material and, where needed, ask the rights holder about Content ID allowlisting before going live.
Do not assume continuous streaming qualifies a channel for monetization
YouTube’s monetization policies apply to livestreams and expect original, authentic content rather than mass-produced, generic, or repetitive content. Eligibility depends on the stream and the channel as a whole; being live around the clock does not itself establish monetization eligibility. No cited source establishes that a particular Gurbani channel or loop qualifies.

Check channel eligibility before configuring the stream
YouTube says a channel must be verified and must have had no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days to go live. Confirm eligibility in YouTube Studio before spending time configuring either a VPS encoder or a hosted service. Then create or select the intended live stream and use its current stream details and key.
Common problems and what to check
- YouTube will not let the channel go live: check that the channel is verified and has no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days.
- The stream is unhealthy or unstable: check YouTube stream health, the encoder’s selected codec and constant bitrate, the target resolution and frame rate, and whether the available upload capacity can sustain the configured feed. Test before relying on a long broadcast.
- The live stream stops after a server or process failure: on a VPS, check the process, server monitoring, and restart behavior; a restart example is not a service-level uptime guarantee. On a hosted service, check the provider’s documented recovery behavior and support terms.
- A broadcast is interrupted or terminated for a copyright match: verify rights to the specific recording, performance, arrangement, and visuals, and contact the rights holder about Content ID allowlisting if the material is licensed.
- The full broadcast is missing from the archive: YouTube may not capture streams longer than 12 hours. Keep a separate backup instead of relying on a 24/7 YouTube archive.
