A public file record reports a 32-bit Canon component with version 0.3.1536.1 and a size of approximately 24 KB. Those are database-record values, not a current Canon-published specification. That uncertainty matters. Several Canon models can use similarly named driver components, and a filename alone is not enough to select a replacement. The correct package depends on:
- Your exact Canon printer model

If the printer still works and the message appears only during startup, the active problem may be obsolete Canon software rather than the printing driver itself.
Fix 1: Install the exact Canon driver
This is the safest and most likely fix.
- Find the printer’s exact model from its front panel, rear label, Windows printer list, or original paperwork.
- Open Canon’s official Software & Drivers support page.
- Search for the exact model, not merely “Canon inkjet.”
- Select your Windows version and the available 32-bit or 64-bit architecture.
- Download the listed printer driver, MP Drivers package, or Full Driver & Software Package.
- Disconnect the printer if Canon’s installer requests it.
- Right-click the downloaded installer and select Run as administrator.
- Follow the setup instructions, then reconnect or re-add the printer when prompted.
- Restart Windows.
- Print a test page.
Canon’s driver selector is important because printer drivers are model- and operating-system-specific. Do not substitute a package for a similar-looking model.
To check your Windows architecture, open Settings > System > About and look at System type. Do not copy a 64-bit DLL into a 32-bit driver installation, or use a file from another Canon model. The reported public record for this filename describes a 32-bit component, but that does not prove that every current Canon package uses the same file.

If Canon offers both a basic printer driver and a complete package, use the complete package when the error appears in Canon utilities or scanning software. Use the basic driver when you only need printing and the full utility is no longer required.

Fix 2: Remove the damaged printer package first
If reinstalling over the existing installation does not work, remove the old printer and driver package before installing Canon’s package again.
Remove the printer in Settings
- Open Settings.
- Select Bluetooth & devices in Windows 11, or Devices in Windows 10.
- Open Printers & scanners.
- Select the Canon printer.
- Choose Remove or Remove device.
- Restart Windows.
Remove the device and driver in Device Manager
- Right-click Start and select Device Manager.
- Open Print queues, Printers, and, if present, Universal Serial Bus controllers.
- Right-click the Canon device and select Uninstall device.
- If Windows offers Attempt to remove the driver for this device or Delete the driver software for this device, select it.
- Confirm the removal and restart.

Remove an old package from Print Server Properties
Only do this when the Canon printer has already been removed and you are deliberately cleaning up an obsolete package.

- Enter
printui /s /t2and press Enter. - Select the Drivers tab.
- Highlight the old Canon driver.
- Select Remove.
- Choose Remove driver and driver package when offered.
- Restart Windows.
- Install the model-specific Canon package again.
If Windows refuses to remove the driver because it is in use, close Canon utilities, clear pending print jobs, restart the Print Spooler service, and try again. Do not delete random files from System32 or the Windows driver store.
A successful repair normally removes the startup message, restores the Canon printer in Windows, and allows a test page to print without the DLL error.
Fix 3: Check Windows Update for a printer driver
Microsoft recommends Windows Update for recommended driver delivery.

On Windows 11:
- Open Settings > Windows Update.
- Select Advanced options.
- Open Optional updates.
- Expand Driver updates.
- Install a relevant Canon or printer-driver update.
- Restart Windows.
On Windows 10:
- Open Settings > Update & Security.
- Select Windows Update.
- Choose View optional updates.
- Expand the driver section.
- Install the relevant printer update.
- Restart.
You can also check Microsoft’s driver-update guidance. If Windows Update does not provide a suitable package, return to Canon’s model-specific support page rather than using a generic DLL source.
Fix 4: Check whether antivirus quarantined the file
A security product may remove a legitimate driver file, or it may flag a suspicious file that merely has the expected name.
- Open Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Open Protection history.
- Look for an entry involving
cnbjop99.dll, Canon software, or the printer driver. - Expand the entry and review the file path, threat classification, and action taken.
Restore or allow the file only when all of these are true:
- The file came from a genuine Canon installation.
- The path belongs to the Canon driver rather than a temporary or unrelated folder.

- Type
Command Prompt. - Right-click it and select Run as administrator.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for it to finish.
- Run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows.
- Reinstall the Canon driver afterward.

If DISM and SFC complete successfully but the Canon error remains, focus on the printer package rather than repeating these commands.
Fix 6: Use System Restore after a recent change
System Restore is appropriate when the error began after a driver update or software installation and a restore point predates the failure.
- Press Windows key + R.
- Enter
rstrui.exe. - Press Enter.
- Select Next.
- Choose a restore point from before the error began.
- Select Scan for affected programs.
- Review the changes.
- Select Finish and allow Windows to restart.
Use Microsoft’s System Restore guidance if you need to review the process. Restore does not permanently solve an unsupported printer-driver problem, so install the correct Canon package afterward if one is available.
Do not copy the DLL or run regsvr32
Do not download cnbjop99.dll from a random DLL website and copy it into C:WindowsSystem32 or C:WindowsSysWOW64.
That can introduce the wrong version, wrong architecture, malware, or a file that lacks the associated INF, catalog, registry entries, spooler configuration, and companion driver files. It often leaves the actual broken installation untouched.
regsvr32 is also not a routine repair:
regsvr32 cnbjop99.dll
Microsoft describes Regsvr32 as a tool for self-registering DLLs and ActiveX/OLE components that provide the required registration entry point. A printer-driver DLL may not support that function. Running the command can produce another error without repairing the driver.
If Canon no longer supports the printer
Some older printers do not have a compatible Canon driver for current Windows versions.

Check Canon’s official listing for your exact model and operating system. If Canon does not list a compatible Windows 10 or Windows 11 package:
- Try Windows’ built-in compatible printer or class driver.
- Use the printer from a supported older computer if appropriate.
- Keep the old computer isolated and updated if it must run legacy software.
- Consider replacing hardware that cannot operate reliably on the current system.
Do not force a driver for a different model merely because it contains a similarly named DLL.
