Start with this quick diagnosis
The cnbjopat.dll error usually points to a damaged, incomplete, or removed Canon printer-driver installation. Before changing anything, note:

The DLL may be loaded when Windows or Canon software:
- Starts a Canon printer utility
- Opens printer properties
- Sends a print job
- Communicates with the printer driver
- Removes or updates Canon printer software
If no Canon printer has ever been installed, investigate the program that is requesting the file before assuming the file is legitimate. Check the launching executable’s location and run a security scan.
Fix 1: Reinstall the exact Canon printer driver
This is the most likely solution for a missing or unloadable cnbjopat.dll.
Remove the affected printer
- Press Windows + I to open Settings.

Print a Windows test page:
- Open Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners.

Fix 2: Check 32-bit and 64-bit compatibility
A driver package must match the Windows installation and the program loading it. A 32-bit application uses 32-bit dependencies, while a 64-bit process cannot use a 32-bit DLL in the same way.
To check Windows architecture:
- Press Windows + I.
- Select System.
- Select About.
- Look at System type.
Download the architecture Canon lists for your printer and Windows version. Do not infer the correct architecture from a third-party file listing. Public inventories contain conflicting records and do not establish a definitive architecture for every release of cnbjopat.dll.
If the Canon installer says the package is incompatible:
- Cancel the installer.
- Remove the existing Canon software again.
- Restart Windows.

- Open Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Look for a Canon driver or
cnbjopat.dlldetection. - Review the detected file’s path and details.
Restore the file only if it is inside a verified Canon installation and the package has trustworthy provenance. Fix 4: Determine whether a dependency is missing
“The specified module could not be found” does not always mean that cnbjopat.dll itself is absent. Windows may be unable to load one of the DLL’s dependencies.

- The file exists inside the Canon installation, but the error continues
- The message mentions a procedure entry point
- The message says the file is not designed to run on Windows

Do not guess at the missing dependency. Reinstall the complete Canon package first. Fix 5: Install Windows updates and repair protected components
Windows Update can restore system components and improve compatibility with newer driver packages, but DISM and SFC will not normally recreate a Canon DLL removed from a third-party driver package.
Install pending updates
- Open Settings.
- Select Windows Update.
- Select Check for updates.
- Install available updates.
- Restart Windows, even if no restart is requested.
- Try the Canon installer again.
Run DISM and SFC
- Open Start.
- Type Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Run:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for it to finish.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows.
- Reinstall the Canon driver if necessary.
Microsoft documents this DISM-then-SFC order in its System File Checker guidance. SFC repairs protected Windows files, not missing files from an incomplete Canon package.

Fix 6: Remove a stale driver package carefully
A failed uninstall can leave an old Canon driver registered in Windows.
First document the exact Canon model and driver name. Then:

printui.exe /s /t2
- Press Enter.
- Select the Drivers tab.
- Select the stale Canon driver.
- Choose Remove.
- Select the option to remove the driver and driver package if Windows offers it.
- Restart Windows.
- Install the current package from Canon.
Do not delete unrelated printer drivers. If Windows refuses to remove the package, remove the printer from Printers & scanners, restart, and try again. On systems with several printers, deleting the wrong package can create additional printing problems.

System Restore is appropriate when the problem began immediately after a driver update, cleanup operation, or software installation and the Canon installer cannot restore the package.
- Open Start and search for Create a restore point.
- Open it.
- Select System Restore.
- Choose a restore point from before the error began.
- Review the affected programs.
- Start the restoration and allow Windows to restart.
System Restore does not replace the need to verify the Canon driver afterward. Test printing and check for Windows updates once the system returns.

Do not run:
regsvr32 cnbjopat.dll
as a general repair step. regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that provide registration functions such as DllRegisterServer, commonly used by self-registering COM components. It is not a command for installing every DLL.
If the file is a printer-driver component, the Canon installer should register and configure it along with the driver’s INF files, services, dependencies, and settings. Running regsvr32 may produce an error or create a false impression that the driver has been repaired.

A random DLL download can contain:
- The wrong build or architecture
- A file intended for a different Canon package
- An unsigned or modified binary
- Malware
- No supporting driver files or configuration
Copying it into System32, SysWOW64, or an application directory does not recreate the printer installation. It may also cause version conflicts or new loader errors.
Use Canon’s official model-specific support page instead. If Windows itself is damaged, use Windows Update, DISM, and SFC. If antivirus removed the file, verify the package before restoring anything.

If the error still appears
Collect these details before contacting Canon or Microsoft support:
- The complete error text
- The Canon printer model
- Windows edition, version, build, and architecture
- The Canon package name and installer version, if shown
- The path where
cnbjopat.dllwas found or expected - The program that displays the error
