Coldplay Canoodlers was a small browser-based hidden-object game by songwriter Jonathan Mann, inspired by the viral concert kiss-cam clip. Players searched a pixel-art crowd for the couple; Mann said he built it quickly with help from ChatGPT and other visual assets. Its release is a snapshot of a viral moment and an early example of AI-assisted “vibe coding,” not a conventional commercial game launch.

What is Coldplay Canoodlers?

Coldplay Canoodlers is a retro-styled browser game that asks players to scan a concert crowd and find the couple from the widely shared Coldplay kiss-cam clip. Forbes described its look as 16-bit-style; the game’s IGDB press-kit listing says players click the pixel-art couple to score 10 points per find. Forbes’ July 19, 2025 report and the IGDB press-kit listing establish the game’s premise and format.

Mann described the player’s role this way: “You’re the camera operator and you have to find the CEO and HR lady canoodling,” adding, “Ten points every time you find them.” That description frames the game as a quick visual search built around the clip, rather than a story-driven game with a larger set of mechanics.

How do you play it?

  1. Look across the pixel-art concert crowd.
  2. Click the couple when you spot them.
  3. Earn 10 points for each find, according to the IGDB listing.

The available descriptions do not establish additional modes, levels, a high-score system, or other mechanics. IGDB lists web browser as the platform and July 18, 2025 as the release date. Those are historical listing details, not confirmation that the game’s site is currently operating.

Who made the game, and why?

Songwriter Jonathan Mann created Coldplay Canoodlers. Forbes identified him as known for his Song-A-Day project and reported that he had posted daily songs for 17 years at the time of its July 19, 2025 article. Forbes also reported that his YouTube channel then had almost 75,000 subscribers; that is a historical audience figure, not a current count.

Mann said he wanted to find out how quickly he could build a game around a viral event: “I wanted to see how fast I could vibe code a simple game based on a viral moment.” In a later first-person account published October 27, 2025, he explained that he had been wondering whether a game could be made quickly enough to catch a short-lived wave of online attention. The premise was as much a test of speed as an attempt to turn the clip into a playable joke.

Did Jonathan Mann use ChatGPT to make it?

Yes. Forbes reported that Mann used ChatGPT and supplied visual prompts and rough drawings. In his own later account, Mann said he used ChatGPT to generate pixelated images, but the generated close-ups did not work reliably for the crowd scenes. He searched for concert-crowd photographs instead. His account describes a mixed workflow: AI-generated art for some elements, with sourced imagery used where the generated material did not meet the game’s needs.

Mann told Forbes it was “very strange to have it happen with a game I made in four hours.” That is his account of the time he spent making it, not an independently timed production measurement. Forbes also quoted Andrej Karpathy’s definition of “vibe coding” as “where you fully give in to the vibes, embrace exponentials and forget that the code even exists.” The phrase captures the experimental, fast-moving approach Mann described; it does not mean the game required no tools, choices, or manual work.

Why did the game attract attention?

The game joined a widely circulated clip to a familiar hidden-object task, making the connection immediately legible to people who had seen the footage. Forbes reported that the clip had been viewed more than 100 million times as of July 19, 2025. That figure belongs to the date of Forbes’ story and should not be read as a current view count.

The timing also mattered. IGDB lists July 18, 2025 as the game’s release date, one day before Forbes published its report. Forbes noted an update on July 19 concerning the Astronomer CEO’s resignation. The original clip and the reporting around the people involved became part of a fast-moving news cycle; the game’s significance is its quick response to that moment, not evidence of a lasting franchise or commercial release.

Can you still play Coldplay Canoodlers?

The historical listing identifies the game as browser-based and includes a website, but the available sources do not confirm that it remains live. The release date and platform are established; present-day availability is not. Treat any archived or reposted copy as separate from confirmation that Mann’s original game is still playable.
