EA’s August 29, 2024 update for College Football 25 changed gameplay, Dynasty, Road to Glory, Ultimate Team, presentation, and Road to CFP. EA’s official notes identify it by date—not as “Title Update 3”—so August 29 is the clearest name for this patch. The update went live for all players at 11 a.m. ET. Read EA’s August 29 update notes.
What changed in College Football 25’s August 29 update?
The patch adds gameplay controls and tuning, gives Dynasty players more roster-editing and substitution options, changes Road to Glory audibles and player archetypes, fixes several Ultimate Team issues, and updates uniforms and Road to CFP tiers. The list below follows EA’s notes for the August 29 patch. It does not include fixes from the separate August 8 update.

Gameplay changes
Switch Stick and passing
- A new Switch Stick Delay setting offers four options: No Delay, Slight Delay, Large Delay, and Disable Switch Stick.
- Pass-block slider responsiveness increased for both user-controlled players and the CPU.
- EA fixed a defender animation issue that could let a defender slip through a double team.
- The update fixed a speed-boost issue involving Custom Stems and Smart Routing. EA said further fixing and balancing were planned for a later update.
CPU decisions and defensive adjustments
- CPU play-calling and coach suggestions were tuned across modes, with fewer CPU jet touch-pass calls.
- Pass Committing is more effective against trick plays. Run Committing from Man Coverage carries increased risk.
- CPU logic was adjusted to significantly reduce roughing-the-kicker penalties on punts and field goals.
- Defensive linemen better recognize HB screens.
- A conservative ball-carrier adjustment no longer causes the player to keep spinning.
EA said it would monitor feedback on the CPU tuning and make changes in future title updates if needed.

The update also adds under-center Jet Sweep series plays for Utah, Bowling Green, and Kentucky, along with more empty and short-yardage formations and plays for multiple teams. Liberty’s pistol default personnel changes to two halfbacks instead of a halfback and a tight end/fullback.
Dynasty changes—and the update that needs a new save
- Player ratings: You can edit ratings for non-NIL players and recruits.
- Super Sim: EA further tuned the simulation to reduce completion rates across the country, with particular attention to quarterbacks completing above 70%. In-game Super Sim timing now scales to quarter length for Normal and Fast settings.
- Mass Subs: In online and offline Dynasty games against AI, you can substitute the entire second unit for the starters or the starting group for the second unit.
- Awards and stats: EA adjusted awards and fixed the Returner of the Year stat display.
- Injury label: The label that showed “Broken Vertebrae” as “Strained Back” was corrected.
Updated coaching staff data for Kent State and Oklahoma State takes effect only in a new Dynasty. Starting a new save is not stated as necessary for the other listed Dynasty changes.

Road to Glory changes
You can now use audibles regardless of your player’s on-field position. EA also retuned starting attributes for two archetype groups:
- Halfbacks: Higher starting speed, agility, change of direction, and stamina. EA said the stamina increase is intended to reduce how often a player is pulled after a big run.
- Cornerbacks: Higher starting speed, stamina, acceleration, and agility.

- Fixed misaligned Player Upgrade and Refund animations, inconsistent milestone totals, Solo Battles rank filters that stayed onscreen, Live Events navigation errors, item-set server errors, and truncated screen text.
- The Single Item Viewer upgrade tab now shows the coin amount required to unlock Team Chemistry.
- “Open Next Pack” is available during Fantasy Pack flow.
Uniforms, NIL players, and Road to CFP
EA lists new uniforms for Arkansas State, UAB, Western Kentucky, Louisiana Monroe, Tennessee, ECU, West Virginia, UMass, Charlotte, Ohio State, Colorado State, and Minnesota. The notes also list 2024 uniform updates for Charlotte, Cal, Tulsa, and Miami (OH), as well as new NIL players for multiple teams. Ohio State’s jersey swoosh appears as a diamond only in playoff games.
Road to CFP received additional tier rebalancing to reflect a five-tier format.
Which platforms received the update?
College Football 25 was released for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, according to EA’s launch announcement. EA’s August 29 notes say the update went live for all users; they do not list separate platform-specific changes.
