Does it support Xbox Play Anywhere?
Yes. Xbox Wire reported Xbox Play Anywhere support at launch. That support covers play across Xbox console, PC, and supported gaming handhelds, with saves, add-ons, and achievements carried across those devices. This is an Xbox Play Anywhere feature; it should not be taken as a cross-save promise for PlayStation, Steam, Epic, or other platforms. Xbox Wire’s announcement explains the Xbox support.
Do I need to play Control first?
No. Remedy presents Control Resonant as a new entry point, so prior knowledge of Control is not required to start Dylan’s story. The sequel continues the same mythology, though, and players familiar with the first game will recognize the Faden siblings and the supernatural world around them. Remedy’s launch support post confirms its newcomer accessibility.

How does Control Resonant connect to Control?
The first Control follows Jesse Faden inside the Oldest House as she searches for her brother, Dylan. Resonant shifts the viewpoint to Dylan, years after his confinement: a supernatural crisis is distorting Manhattan, and he sets out to find Jesse. Remedy identifies Dylan as the sole playable character, while Jesse remains an important part of the siblings’ shared story. Co-Creative Director Mikael Kasurinen summarized their relationship on the PlayStation Blog: “His story drives Resonant, but as in the first game, the other sibling shapes the path.” Read Remedy’s PlayStation Blog post for the character context.
The game shifts the series into a third-person action RPG with interconnected Manhattan zones, exploration, and character and weapon progression. Dylan’s Aberrant is a living weapon that changes shape for melee combat. These details make the sequel a continuation of Control’s universe rather than a retelling of Jesse’s original search.
