In Control Resonant, respeccing uses Reset Items. Remedy’s hotfix 1.3.3 permanently reduced the respec cost, increased Reset Item stock at every vendor, and changed the first Resonant boss, The Artist, to drop two Reset Items. Remedy’s support notes do not state the exact current cost or a complete button-by-button reset sequence, so check the current in-game UI before spending one.
If your character feels weak, a full reset may not be the answer. First check how your Combat Abilities, Aberrant Weapon Forms and upgrades, Talents, and Core Upgrades work together—and whether the real problem is damage, resource recovery, survivability, or combat difficulty.
How respeccing works
Remedy calls the respec currency a Reset Item. The official hotfix 1.3.3 notes say the cost reduction is permanent and that all vendors carry more Reset Items. They also say The Artist, the first Resonant boss, drops two Reset Items instead of one.
The notes do not give an exact price, explain whether every category of reset costs the same, or lay out the full interaction sequence. Check the item description and prompts in your current game rather than relying on an unverified cost or menu path.

What to check before resetting
Start by naming the problem you want to fix. Low damage, running out of ability resource, difficulty creating openings, weak crowd control, and trouble surviving are different issues; changing one upgrade may not solve another.
- Low damage: Check whether your Weapon Forms and Talents support the way you use melee attacks and abilities.
- Ability resource runs dry: Look at how often you return to melee and whether your choices support the resource loop you want.
- Few openings or executions: Consider whether your abilities and forms help you stun enemies and follow up.
- Survival or fight difficulty: Review defensive options and Assist Mode before rebuilding everything.
Remedy’s support article also clarifies what contributes to the displayed Build Power: unlocked Combat Abilities, Aberrant forms and upgrades, Talents, and Core Upgrades. Do not assume it reflects only the forms you currently have equipped.

Build around the game’s connected systems
Remedy presents three core build pillars: Supernatural Combat Abilities, Aberrant Weapon Forms, and Talents. Resonant bosses award abilities, and some offer branching choices for different playstyles. Weapon Forms include Primary and Secondary Forms and Combo Enders, while Talents can strengthen interactions between abilities and melee attacks. Remedy notes that you cannot unlock everything in a single playthrough, so choices are meant to shape a build rather than cover every option.
Check the resource and opening loop
Remedy’s combat overview describes a loop in which melee hits restore Combat Ability resource, abilities stun enemies and create openings for executions, and executions temporarily increase melee damage. If you spend abilities without returning to melee, you may have trouble sustaining that loop. That is a diagnostic possibility, not a claim that every build should fight at close range.

Match forms and Talents to your role
Forms and Talents should reinforce how you want to fight. Remedy’s Xbox preview describes distinct options, including close-range melee and a more tactical approach using summons such as Mold Turrets for crowd control. These examples show that builds can serve different roles; they do not establish one as stronger. Compare options by melee damage and speed, ability uptime, crowd control, survivability, and how well the selected pieces work together.
Use Assist Mode for difficulty or recovery problems
If the fight itself feels too punishing—or your ability resource recovers too slowly for your preferred approach—Assist Mode may address the friction without reallocating upgrades. Remedy says it can be enabled or disabled during gameplay, and that its settings can be adjusted individually or from presets. Available controls include Incoming Damage, Outgoing Damage, Outgoing Falter (how quickly enemy posture breaks), enemy aggression, Perfect Dodge Window, projectile speed, Power Recovery Speed, and Enhanced Melee Magnetizing. Remedy’s Lead Gameplay Designer Sergey Mohov says trophies and achievements are not gated behind Assist Mode.

The Assist Mode overview describes these as player-controlled adjustments, not a measure of whether a build is good. Change the setting that matches the problem you are having instead of assuming every difficulty issue calls for a respec.

Remedy says New Game Plus carries over Aberrant upgrades, health and Combat Ability resource improvements, unlocked supernatural combat abilities, Talents, and Artifacts. Traversal abilities do not carry over because they remain tied to story progression. NG+ also lets players equip multiple different combat abilities from the same boss, allowing combinations beyond the first-run setup.

That makes NG+ another way to explore combinations, but it is not described as a general free respec: much of your combat progression persists, and traversal remains linked to story progress. See Remedy’s New Game Plus overview for the stated carryover details.
