CONTROL Resonant update 1.4.0 lets players start New Game++ runs indefinitely, and Remedy says it fixes the fast-travel bug that changed Dylan’s outfit after the credits. The patch also brings quality-of-life changes and a broad set of gameplay, presentation, and technical fixes. Hotfix 1.4.1 followed on 2 October 2026 to address two problems introduced by 1.4.0.
What does update 1.4.0 add?
The headline addition is the ability to play an infinite number of New Game++ runs. Remedy’s notes do not say that every progression rule changes with this feature, so it is best understood as removing a stated limit on repeat runs—not as a wholesale redesign of what carries over.
Other changes called out by Remedy include:
- A Build Power number on the Loadout screen.
- A HUD notification when purchases or upgrades are available in The Gap.
- Map visibility for pinned upgrade materials available at a Vendor.
- A separate volume slider for radio dialogue.
- A Power Core Charge Duration multiplier in Assist Mode.
- A “Mute copyrighted music” option for Apocalyptica’s “Upperhand” during the intro credits.
- Razer haptics support.
Remedy also says the patch reduces Unknown Zone combat and intensity by 10%–15%. That figure is the developer’s stated adjustment, not a measured outcome across player runs. Read Remedy’s update 1.4.0 notes.
Did the update fix the outfit-changing fast-travel bug?
Yes. Remedy lists this fix: “Fixed an issue where Dylan’s outfits would change when fast traveling to Downtown Zone after the credits have rolled.” The “magic doors change my trousers” description refers to this outfit-change glitch, rather than a separate supernatural mechanic.

What else does the patch fix?
The published notes cover fixes across audio, visuals, code, game design, level design, lighting, localization, narrative, UI, and visual effects. Examples include HDR artifacts and over-saturated highlights, a crash when toggling ray-tracing modes, Steam Controller reconnection problems under Steam Input, incorrect or persistent map markers, quest and encounter progression issues, and controls or interactions in several fights.
The list is not exhaustive: Remedy says its notes highlight fixes it considers meaningful to players, rather than every change. The official notes include the full published selection.

What carries over into New Game Plus?
In a PlayStation Blog explanation dated 30 April 2026, Remedy Lead Gameplay Designer Sergey Mohov described New Game Plus as carrying over Aberrant upgrades, improvements to health and combat-ability resources, unlocked supernatural combat abilities, talents, and artifacts. Traversal abilities do not carry over because they remain tied to story progression. Mohov also said encounters and enemies evolve to challenge returning players, giving them room to refine their builds. Those details describe the earlier New Game Plus explanation; the 1.4.0 notes specifically establish unlimited New Game++ runs, not a revised carryover rulebook.
