Xbox has not confirmed a 2027 retail launch for Project Helix or a three-device lineup. Its confirmed 2027 milestone is narrower: Xbox plans to begin shipping alpha versions of Helix hardware to developers that year. The idea of several Helix devices has appeared in reporting, but no official statement cited here specifies three products.
What is Project Helix?
Project Helix is the codename for Xbox’s next-generation first-party console project. In an Xbox Wire announcement dated March 11, 2026, Jason Ronald, Xbox’s Vice President of Next Generation, said Helix is designed to play Xbox console and PC games. Xbox also said it will use a custom AMD SoC and is being co-designed for the next generation of DirectX and FSR.
That describes the project’s broad purpose, not a complete specification sheet. The announcement does not confirm retail models, prices, performance figures, or a consumer release date.
What does Xbox’s 2027 date mean?
Ronald wrote: “I’m excited to share we plan to ship alpha versions of the hardware to developers beginning in 2027.” In context, that is a development milestone: Xbox plans to start sending early hardware to developers so they can work on games and software for the platform. It is not an announcement that shoppers will be able to buy Helix in 2027.

Windows Central has separately reported that 2027 could be a best-case scenario for a consumer launch, while noting Microsoft had not made a firm internal commitment. That is secondary reporting, not a confirmed release window. Based on the official announcement, the reliable answer to “When does the next Xbox come out?” is that Xbox has not announced a retail date.
Is a three-device Helix lineup confirmed?
No. Xbox’s June 2025 announcement about its collaboration with AMD described a broader next-generation portfolio spanning console, handheld, PC, cloud, and accessories. It did not say those categories would be three Helix launch devices.

A MeriStation report updated September 1, 2026, attributed a remark about a “great family of devices for Helix” to Xbox head Asha Sharma. The report does not give a device count. “A family” suggests more than one product may be under consideration, but it does not establish three devices, their form factors, or whether they would launch together. Treat the three-device claim as unconfirmed unless Xbox provides a count or stronger reporting substantiates it.

What Xbox’s wider hardware strategy tells us—and what it doesn’t
The portfolio described in Xbox’s June 2025 announcement points to a strategy that reaches beyond a single traditional console: it names console, handheld, PC, cloud, and accessories, with AMD co-engineering silicon across a portfolio that includes future first-party consoles and cloud. This provides context for why a range of hardware may be discussed. It does not prove that each category is a Helix device, that any particular products are planned for launch, or that three products will arrive in 2027.

Xbox also cited ecosystem figures in its March 2026 announcement: more than 1,500 games in the Xbox Play Anywhere catalog, 500 development teams that have shipped games with Xbox Play Anywhere, and more than 5,000 developers around the world currently building for Xbox. Those figures describe the broader Xbox ecosystem; they are not Helix device counts, launch projections, or sales forecasts.

For a meaningful answer about a multi-device launch, look for Xbox to identify the products themselves and clarify whether they are Helix hardware, when each is expected to ship, and how their game compatibility and intended uses differ. Until then, there are no confirmed Helix models to compare, and hypothetical device specifications or prices would be guesswork.
