Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →crli18n.dll is Corel’s Globalization Utilities Library, supplied with the Corel Common Framework and associated with Corel graphics applications. If Windows says crli18n.dll is missing, was not found, or could not be loaded, repair the Corel program that originally installed it rather than downloading a replacement DLL.
The filename alone cannot identify the exact Corel product or release. CorelDRAW and other Corel Graphics Applications may use it, and historical installations also list it among the files installed by WordPerfect Lightning. The safest destination is the Corel program folder created by its installer, not C:WindowsSystem32 or C:WindowsSysWOW64.
Fix 1: Repair the Corel installation
Time needed: 10–20 minutes
This is the most likely solution. A repair restores missing or damaged files while preserving the existing installation where possible.
- Close Corel applications.
- Press Windows key + R.
- Type
appwiz.cpland press Enter. - In Programs and Features, select the affected Corel product. This may appear as CorelDRAW, Corel Graphics Applications, WordPerfect, or another Corel-branded product.
- Click Change, Modify, or Uninstall, depending on what the installer displays.
- Choose Repair.
- Follow the installer prompts until the repair completes.
- Restart Windows.
- Start the Corel application again.
Corel documents this process in its repair and installation instructions.

How to tell whether the repair worked
The repair succeeded if the application opens without the crli18n.dll message and its normal features load. Do not judge success only by seeing a file appear in a folder. The application must also be able to load the library and its related dependencies.
If Repair is not available, use the original Corel installer or the installer associated with your Corel account. Install the same product and release whenever possible. A different Corel generation may contain a different version of the library and different dependencies.
If the repair reports that source files are unavailable, canceling and repeatedly retrying will not restore them. Locate the original installer, sign in to the account used to obtain the product, or contact Corel for the correct installation media.
Fix 2: Reinstall the exact Corel product
Time needed: 20–45 minutes
Use this when Repair is missing, fails, or completes but the same message returns.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Press Windows key + R.
- Type
appwiz.cpland press Enter. - Select the Corel program that fails.
- Choose Uninstall.
- Complete the removal process.
- Restart Windows.
- Run the original Corel installer as an administrator:
- Open File Explorer.
- Browse to the installer.
- Right-click the installer.
- Select Show more options if necessary.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Install the same Corel product and release.
- Restart Windows once more.
- Test the application before adding third-party utilities or manually copying files.
A normal reinstall should place crli18n.dll in the application’s own directory. Historical Corel installations place it in a path similar to:
C:Program FilesCorelCorel Graphics 12ProgramsCRLI18N.dll
The exact folder depends on the product and release. Do not treat that historical path as a universal location.
If reinstalling does not help
Check whether the installer completed without errors. An interrupted update, blocked installation, unavailable source media, or antivirus quarantine can leave the program apparently installed while one or more files are absent.
Do not copy a DLL from another computer or from a different Corel release. Even if the filenames match, the binary may be the wrong architecture or may expect different companion files.
Fix 3: Check antivirus quarantine
Time needed: 5–15 minutes
If the error began after a security scan, cleanup operation, or Corel update, inspect quarantine before changing system settings.
- Open Start.
- Type Windows Security.
- Open Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Review recent detections.
- Look for an event involving the Corel installation folder or
CRLI18N.dll. - Expand the event and review its details.
If the security product identifies the file as a threat, do not restore it simply because Corel will not start. Run a full Windows Security scan and investigate the detection.
Restore or allow the file only when all of the following are true:
- It came from the genuine Corel installation.
- The file is in the expected Corel application directory.
- The security product confirms the event was a false positive.
- You are restoring the file through the security product’s own controls.
Microsoft explains Protection History in Windows Security. Restoring a quarantined item may cause it to be detected again. If that happens, do not repeatedly override the warning. Remove and reinstall Corel from trusted installation media instead.

If several Corel files disappeared together, consider whether a disk cleaner, “optimizer,” cracked software package, or portable-app utility removed them. Multiple missing DLLs point to an installation, quarantine, malware, storage, or permissions problem rather than one defective file.
Fix 4: Confirm the application and DLL architecture
Time needed: 5–10 minutes
A 64-bit Windows installation can run a 32-bit Corel application. In that situation, the application still needs compatible 32-bit libraries.
Historical public metadata reports 32-bit CRLI18N.dll records including version 17.1.0.572, approximately 2.43 MB, and version 16.1.0.843, approximately 0.46 MB. These are reported catalogue records, not a complete specification for every Corel release.
A security report also references a Programs64CRLI18N.dll path in a CorelDRAW-related installation. That shows that some releases may contain a 64-bit variant or similarly named component, but it does not establish a universal architecture or version.
The practical rule is:
- A 32-bit Corel executable needs the compatible 32-bit library.
- A 64-bit Corel executable needs the compatible 64-bit library.
- Windows being 64-bit does not mean every installed application is 64-bit.
Do not use the size or version of an isolated download to decide whether it is suitable. The installer must supply the matching file and dependencies.
To check the application’s installation location:
- Right-click the Corel shortcut.
- Select Properties.
- Open the Shortcut tab.
- Review Target or select Open File Location.
- Confirm that the application files are in the expected Corel directory.
Do not move CRLI18N.dll to a Windows system folder. Windows normally searches an application’s own directory before system directories, and application-local DLLs help avoid version conflicts. Copying files into System32 or SysWOW64 can also create a DLL hijacking risk.
Fix 5: Separate a Corel DLL problem from a Microsoft runtime problem
Time needed: 10–20 minutes
crli18n.dll itself is identified as Corel’s Globalization Utilities Library. There is no authoritative evidence that it belongs to the Visual C++ Redistributable.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →A Corel application may still depend on Microsoft runtime files. Read the exact filename in the error message:
crli18n.dllpoints back to the Corel installation.VCRUNTIME140.dllindicates a Microsoft Visual C++ runtime issue.MSVCP140.dllindicates a Microsoft Visual C++ runtime issue.api-ms-win-crt-*.dllindicates a Universal C Runtime dependency issue.
If the message names a Microsoft runtime instead:
- Open Microsoft’s latest supported Visual C++ Redistributable downloads.
- Download the package architecture that matches the affected application.
- Use vc_redist.x86.exe for a 32-bit Corel application.
- Use vc_redist.x64.exe for a 64-bit Corel application.
- Run the installer.
- Choose Repair if offered, or install the package.
- Restart Windows.
- Test Corel again.
Installing only the x64 package does not repair a 32-bit application. If the error still names crli18n.dll, return to Corel Repair or reinstall the Corel product.
Fix 6: Repair Windows components only when broader symptoms justify it
Time needed: 15–30 minutes
Because crli18n.dll is an application DLL rather than a Windows system DLL, DISM and System File Checker are secondary steps. Use them when several applications fail, Windows servicing is malfunctioning, or other system files are also damaged.
Before running the commands, save open work.
- Right-click Start.
- Select Terminal (Admin) or Windows PowerShell (Admin).
- Select Yes at the User Account Control prompt.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for the command to finish.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Wait until the verification reaches 100 percent.
- Restart Windows.
- Run Corel Repair again.
- Test the application.

If DISM or SFC reports that it could not repair files, record the result and continue with the Corel installer path. Do not assume that repeating the commands will recreate a Corel-owned DLL.
When you want help identifying whether Windows itself has a broader component problem, Outbyte PC Repair can scan for issues instead of making you repeat SFC and DISM without knowing what changed; its free scan shows what it finds, while repairs are performed by the full version. Reinstalling the Corel product remains the definitive fix for a missing Corel library.
Fix 7: Update a graphics driver only for a separate graphics symptom
Time needed: 10–30 minutes
A graphics driver is not a substitute for restoring crli18n.dll. Consider this step when Corel also shows display corruption, crashes during drawing operations, or Windows reports a separate display-driver problem.
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters.
- Note the graphics device name.
- Right-click the device.
- Select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for drivers.
- Restart Windows if a driver is installed.
- Test Corel.
If Windows finds nothing, use the graphics manufacturer’s official support channel or the computer manufacturer’s driver package. Do not remove a working driver merely because crli18n.dll is missing.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsIf Device Manager shows a warning icon:
- Right-click the affected device.
- Select Properties.
- Review the General tab and Device status.
- Record the error code.
- Correct that driver issue separately, then retest Corel.
Manually hunting through hardware pages and matching driver packages can be tedious, especially when several devices are outdated. Outbyte Driver Updater can scan and identify driver problems, with the free scan showing what it finds and the full version handling driver installation; it is optional and does not replace Corel Repair for this DLL.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Do not use regsvr32 as a generic DLL repair
Time needed: 1 minute
regsvr32 registers self-registering COM or ActiveX libraries. It is not a general-purpose missing-DLL repair command.
There is no reliable public evidence that crli18n.dll is a self-registering COM server. Running:
regsvr32 crli18n.dll
is therefore unlikely to solve the startup problem and may produce another confusing error. Use it only if Corel specifically instructs you to register the file for the affected product release. Microsoft documents the regsvr32 command.
Do not download an isolated DLL
Random DLL download sites create several problems:
- The file may contain malware.
- It may be from the wrong Corel release.
- It may be the wrong architecture.
- Its dependencies may still be missing.
- Replacing one file can hide a damaged installation.
- Placing it in a system folder can cause version conflicts or hijacking risk.
The safe sources are the original Corel installer, the user’s legitimate Corel account, or a Corel-supported installation path. Microsoft’s official runtime packages are appropriate only when the error names a Microsoft runtime file.
What the exact error message means
The wording usually identifies what Windows could not do, not why it happened.
-
“The program can’t start because CRLI18N.dll is missing from your computer.”
The application could not find the library in its normal search locations. Repair or reinstall Corel. -
“This application failed to start because CRLI18N.dll was not found.”
The application requested the library, but Windows could not locate a compatible copy.Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy. -
“The file CRLI18N.dll is missing or corrupted.”
The file may be absent, damaged, blocked, or incompatible with the installed Corel release. -
“Error loading CRLI18N.dll.”
Windows found the file but could not load it. A dependency, architecture mismatch, permissions issue, or damaged installation may be involved. -
“CRLI18.dll could not be located” or “Cannot find CRLI18.dll.”
These are equivalent search failures. Verify the exact spelling becauseCRLI18N.dlland similar filenames are not interchangeable.
If Repair completes but the same message remains, the named DLL may not be the only damaged file. Check the exact application error, reinstall the complete product, and preserve any Corel installer logs for support.
Causes, from most likely to least likely
| Likely cause | Correct response |
|---|---|
| Damaged or incomplete Corel installation | Run Corel Repair, then reinstall if needed |
| Mixed files from different Corel releases | Remove the installation and install one matching release |
| Antivirus quarantine | Inspect Protection history before restoring anything |
| Unauthorized cleanup or malware | Scan Windows and reinstall Corel from trusted media |
| Corrupted Windows components | Run DISM and SFC when broader Windows symptoms exist |
| Storage, permissions, or profile corruption | Check drive health, logs, permissions, and a new user profile |
There is no reliable evidence that a Windows Update, DirectX installation, or .NET installation specifically removes this Corel library. Do not install unrelated frameworks just because a DLL error appeared.
If the error returns after reinstalling
A recurring error usually means the file is being removed, the installation is not completing, or the application is loading from an unexpected location.
Work through these checks:
- Inspect Windows Security Protection history for a new quarantine event.
- Confirm that the Corel installer completed successfully.
- Make sure the installed application and its files belong to the same Corel release.
- Check whether a disk cleaner or security utility is removing files.
- Review available disk space and drive health.
- Check Windows Event Viewer for application or disk errors:
- Press Windows key + X.
- Select Event Viewer.
- Open Windows Logs.
- Check Application and System around the time of the failure.
- Test the application from a new Windows user profile if permissions or profile corruption are suspected.
- If the problem began after a system change, consider System Restore only when a suitable restore point predates the failure.
- Give Corel support the exact error text, product name, release, installer result, and any antivirus event details.
If multiple DLLs disappear, stop replacing files individually. Treat the pattern as an installation, quarantine, malware, storage, or permissions problem.
FAQ
Is crli18n.dll a Windows file?
No evidence supports that. It is associated with Corel software and is identified as the Globalization Utilities Library from Corel Corporation.
Which Corel programs use it?
It is associated with Corel Common Framework and Corel Graphics Applications. Historical installation records also list it with WordPerfect Lightning. The filename alone cannot determine the exact product or release on your computer.
Should I put it in System32?
No. It normally belongs in the Corel application directory supplied by the installer. Copying it to System32 or SysWOW64 can create conflicts and security risks.
Is crli18n.dll 32-bit or 64-bit?
Historical metadata identifies 32-bit versions, while a separate Corel-related report references a Programs64 occurrence without enough information to establish its architecture definitively. Match the library to the affected executable and let the Corel installer supply it.
Will Visual C++ Redistributable fix it?
Not when the error specifically names crli18n.dll. Use Microsoft’s redistributable packages when the error names a Microsoft runtime file such as VCRUNTIME140.dll or MSVCP140.dll.
Should I run regsvr32 crli18n.dll?
Normally, no. There is no reliable evidence that this file requires COM registration. Use regsvr32 only under specific Corel instructions for the affected release.
What is the safest permanent fix?
Run Repair for the exact Corel product. If Repair is unavailable or fails, uninstall and reinstall that same product from trusted Corel installation media.
