The only report we found is from TheWrap, published October 8, 2026. As of October 9, 2026, we have not found a Paramount or CD PROJEKT RED statement confirming it, so treat the film as reported rather than announced. The report also does not say who will write or direct it, what it will be about, or when it might arrive.
What TheWrap reported
TheWrap’s October 8, 2026 story describes a feature-length film, not a series, and names Paramount as the studio. Its two named producers are Lorenzo di Bonaventura and CD PROJEKT RED, the Polish developer behind the game and its Phantom Liberty expansion.
The report leaves several basic questions open:
- Director and screenwriter: not stated.
- Plot and setting: not stated.
- Cast: not stated. The report notes that Keanu Reeves appears in the game, but it is unknown whether he would return for the film.
- Release date and production schedule: not stated.
Any article that names a director, a plot, or a release window is going beyond what the report establishes.
Reported versus confirmed
Readers should separate what has been reported from what has been officially stated:
#1 Best Overall
- Case with game discs.
- Reversible Inlay.
- World Compendium detailing the games setting and lore.
- Postcards from Night City.
- Map of Night City.
- Reported: a Paramount feature film, with di Bonaventura and CD PROJEKT RED as producers (TheWrap, October 8, 2026).
- Confirmed by an official statement: none that we could locate from Paramount or CD PROJEKT RED at the time of writing.
Film projects are often reported in trade press before any studio or developer comments publicly, and that can change the details later. Until one of the companies speaks on the record, the report is the only source for the project.
The earlier Anonymous Content project
This is not the first screen project CD PROJEKT RED has announced for the franchise. On October 5, 2023, the company announced a live-action collaboration with Anonymous Content and AC Studios, described as a brand-new story set in the world of Cyberpunk 2077. The company said it would be developed closely with the game’s creative team.

The 2023 announcement named Garrett Kemble, David Levine, Ryan Schwartz, and Bard Dorros as producers for Anonymous Content, along with Charlie Scully. It also gave the project’s status at that time:
“The new project is at an early development stage and has currently commenced searching for a screenwriter to tell a brand-new story set in the world of Cyberpunk 2077.”

That line describes the project as of October 2023. It says nothing about where the project stands in 2026.
Are the two projects the same?
The available sources do not establish whether the 2023 Anonymous Content project and the 2026 Paramount feature are connected, separate, or whether one replaced the other. The table below compares what each source states.
| Detail | CD PROJEKT RED announcement (October 5, 2023) | TheWrap report (October 8, 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Source type | Official company announcement | Trade press report; no matching official statement located |
| Studio or partner | Anonymous Content, with AC Studios | Paramount |
| Format | Live-action project (format as described: live-action) | Feature film |
| Producers named | Garrett Kemble, David Levine, Ryan Schwartz, Bard Dorros, Charlie Scully (Anonymous Content side) | Lorenzo di Bonaventura and CD PROJEKT RED |
| Development stage | Early development; searching for a screenwriter (as of 2023) | Not stated |
| Writer or director | Not stated; a screenwriter was being sought | Not stated |

Do not treat the two announcements as one project unless a source says so. Their partners differ, and the 2026 report names no link to the 2023 deal.

TheWrap also cited sales figures for the franchise:
Best Value
- From the award-winning game Cyberpunk 2077
- The ex-nomad of the Aldecaldo family is recreated with incredible detail
- Stands approximately 9” tall
- Display base included
- Cyberpunk 2077: over 40 million copies sold internationally since its December 2020 release, according to TheWrap (2026).
- Phantom Liberty: over 15 million copies sold, according to TheWrap (2026).
We could not find a primary sales statement from CD PROJEKT RED to check either figure. Attribute both numbers to TheWrap.
What would confirm the film
Look for these signals before treating the Paramount project as officially in development:
- An on-the-record statement from Paramount or CD PROJEKT RED, on the company’s own channels or in a press release.
- A named director or screenwriter.
- Any update that explains whether the 2023 Anonymous Content project continues, changes, or ends.
- A release date, which would be the first sign of a schedule.
Until one of these appears, the reported film and the 2023 project should both be treated as unresolved.
