Choose Cyberpunk 2077 if you want a large open-world RPG built around exploring Night City, taking jobs and developing your character. Choose Deus Ex: Mankind Divided if you prefer compact city hubs and missions that reward stealth, careful planning and finding different ways through a problem. Both offer customization and consequential choices; their main difference is the shape of the play experience.
How the two games are structured
Cyberpunk 2077 is presented by its publisher as an open-world action-adventure RPG set in Night City. Its loop connects exploration and jobs with character customization, upgrades and reputation. The official game page describes choices that shape relationships, the story and the world.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided follows Adam Jensen, a covert agent in a 2029 where mechanically augmented people face hostility. Rather than one continuous open-world sprawl, its main game is organized around Prague hubs and mission areas. The PlayStation page highlights Jensen’s customizable weapons and augmentations, while GameSpot’s review describes missions focused on infiltration and investigation. PlayStation’s game page also describes Breach, a separate puzzle-arcade mode.

Stealth and mission freedom: a meaningful difference
Mankind Divided puts approach selection near the center of its mission design. Its official description calls out weapons and augmentations that players can customize, and the ESRB rating describes mission objectives alongside lethal and non-lethal stealth attacks. GameSpot’s review characterizes the main game as infiltration and investigation scenarios with player-chosen solutions, plus optional side missions and exploration rewards.

Cyberpunk 2077 also supports stealth, hacking and other approaches in some missions, so it is not simply an action game with no room for discretion. But its open-world RPG structure does not mean every main-story encounter is equally open-ended. In a September 30, 2026 essay, PC Gamer’s Rick Lane argued that some side activities and abilities have immersive-sim qualities while the central story is more directed. Character progression and story choices
Progression
Both games let you tailor how you play, but they emphasize different contexts. Cyberpunk 2077 ties customization to jobs, upgrades and reputation across Night City. Mankind Divided emphasizes Adam Jensen’s augmentations alongside weapons and approach choices. The available descriptions support those distinctions, but not a blanket claim that one game has more viable builds.

Consequences
In Cyberpunk 2077, the official description says choices affect relationships as well as the story and world. For Mankind Divided, narrative director Mary DeMarle described choices and consequences as paying off on multiple levels; the PlayStation Blog interview says decisions can affect the final mission and ending experience. The interview was published July 5, 2016.
Platforms, editions and purchase checks
Check your platform and regional store before buying: the pages below are not a complete worldwide compatibility or stock guide. Cyberpunk 2077‘s official page lists PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. It describes an Ultimate Edition that bundles previously released content, including Phantom Liberty, and a physical Day 1 edition whose contents vary by platform. The inspected Deus Ex: Mankind Divided PlayStation page is for the US PS4 listing, and the ESRB page identifies a Windows PC version. Those listings do not establish a complete current platform matrix for every country. The PlayStation page also lists add-ons, so check whether a store entry is the base game or separate content.
