Choose Dacast if your church needs to broadcast a live service, simulcast it to YouTube, and manage sermon playback through a branded player. Choose Gyre if the goal is to keep YouTube continuously live by looping prerecorded sermons and services. Those are different workflows: an archive replay is not a live Sunday service.
How Dacast and Gyre differ for church streaming
| Decision | Dacast | Gyre |
|---|---|---|
| Primary workflow | Managed live streaming and on-demand sermon hosting; can simulcast an encoder feed to YouTube. | Schedule prerecorded videos as a continuous, looping stream. |
| Stream source | A live encoder feed; Dacast names OBS, Wirecast, and vMix as compatible. | Uploaded prerecorded files assembled into a playlist. |
| Viewer destinations | Dacast-branded player and YouTube or other configured destinations. | Continuous streams on YouTube and other supported platforms. |
| Archive and playback | Dacast describes recording services for later sermon playback and a sermon library. | Playlist playback from uploaded files; storage and features vary by tier. |
| Branding and access | Dacast promotes a branded player and security and privacy features. | Gyre emphasizes automated channel streaming; its displayed tiers distinguish watermark status. |
| Limits to check | Multistream hours vary by plan; confirm the current allowance. | Stream counts, storage, resolution, playlists, and scheduling vary by plan. |
These descriptions are from the vendors, not independent performance tests. A church should assess its own production and access needs rather than treating marketing claims as guarantees. Dacast’s church streaming page and Gyre’s product page describe the respective workflows.
Choose based on what viewers should experience
For live worship with a sermon archive: Dacast
Dacast’s church workflow is built around a live camera and encoder feed, with an option to send that stream to YouTube. Its church page also describes a branded player, recording and later playback, security options, analytics, and donation or paywall options. Those features may suit a church that wants its website or a controlled player to be central, while YouTube provides another destination.
Dacast’s multistreaming page says users can configure YouTube and custom RTMP destinations, and names OBS, Wirecast, and vMix as compatible encoders. The page lists plan-specific multistreaming-hour allowances, so check the current plan before assuming it covers every weekly service or a continuous broadcast. See Dacast’s multistreaming details.

For a continuous replay channel: Gyre
Gyre’s described process is to upload prerecorded videos, assemble them into a playlist, connect a YouTube account, schedule the stream, and let the playlist loop. Its cloud workflow is intended to keep that replay stream running without a local computer left on. Gyre describes automating prerecorded material; it is not a substitute for a live camera production during worship. These are vendor descriptions, not independently verified uptime assurances. Review Gyre’s current product details.
Questions to settle before choosing
Is replay acceptable, or must the service be live?
A continuous playlist can make sermons available at other times, but viewers are watching recorded material. If the congregation expects the current service, a live encoder workflow is needed. A church may use both patterns for different purposes, but they should be labeled clearly so viewers know whether a broadcast is live or replaying an archive.

Where should people watch, and who should have access?
YouTube can provide public discovery and access; a branded player may be preferable when the church website, presentation, or access controls matter more. Dacast promotes security and privacy options, but confirm the exact controls and plan terms that meet your requirements. Gyre’s focus is keeping a channel stream active, not replacing a church’s separate decisions about audience access and website experience.
Do you need an organized sermon library?
Dacast describes recording and later sermon playback. Gyre describes playlist-based continuous playback from uploaded files. If people need to find a particular sermon by date, speaker, or subject, evaluate the archive experience separately from whether a continuous stream is available.

Can you stream the music and other material?
Choosing a streaming service does not grant copyright permission. Confirm rights for worship music, recordings, images, and other material in every relevant jurisdiction, and check current platform and licensing terms. Dacast’s church streaming guide discusses worship-music licensing and YouTube Content ID, but the applicable permissions depend on the material and rights holders.
Compare plan limits and prices carefully
Do not compare a live encoder service and a prerecorded-loop service by headline price alone. Estimate the number of live hours, whether the channel must run continuously, library size, output quality, and number of simultaneous streams. Then verify current allowances and pricing directly before purchase.

- A Dacast-authored guide dated April 29, 2026 listed Starter at $39/month and Scale at $165/month. These are time-sensitive vendor prices, not a like-for-like comparison with Gyre; check the guide and current terms.
- Gyre’s product page displayed a seven-day trial when accessed October 3, 2026. It showed Start, Start+, and PRO+ storage allocations of 35 GB, 75 GB, and 150 GB, respectively, with different stream counts, resolution options, playlists, and scheduling features. Plans and prices can change, so confirm the live page.
