Take the Dam Control Tower Key to the top floor of the Control Tower on Dam Battlegrounds. It does not open the nearby Research & Administration building, the ground-floor staff-room door, or the Raider Hatch. The locked room is reached by climbing the tower’s lift shaft and following the upper corridor.
Where to use the Dam Control Tower Key
Use the key at the top of the Control Tower in the central-eastern area of Dam Battlegrounds. The Control Tower is a separate point of interest beside Research & Administration, so make sure you are at the tower rather than searching the neighboring building.
The target is a locked door on the upper floor. After the climb, follow the corridor and look for the door on the right. The key is an Epic item with a stack size of 1, a weight of 0.25 kg, and a listed value of 100 Raider Tokens in current item databases. Those item values and the exact loot inside can change with game updates.

Dam Control Tower Key route
- Enter the Control Tower through the main entrance.
- Go around the right side of the structure.
- Use the side entrance.
- Breach the door directly ahead. This leads into the lift shaft.
- Check above you for ARC turrets before starting the climb. Destroy or otherwise account for them if they are active.
- Use the grapple lines to climb to the upper level.
- Follow the corridor and take the locked door on the right. Interact with it while the Dam Control Tower Key is in your inventory.
The grapple climb is exposed and can reveal your position to other Raiders. The tower is also a prominent vertical landmark near other loot areas, so players may be rotating through it even when you are focused on the key room. Do not treat the climb as a safe transition.
What loot is inside the locked room?
The key room offers randomized loot containers, not a fixed guaranteed reward. The most consistently reported container types are:
- Weapon Case
- Ammo Case
- Medical Bag
- Lockers
Depending on the raid, map condition, current loot balancing, and whether another player has already searched the area, the room may produce weapon, ammunition, medical, or technology-related items. Do not expect a specific legendary item or assume that every container will spawn on every visit.
After clearing the room, check the balcony outside or beside the upper room. Route information for the tower specifically recommends opening the window shutter and searching the balcony, which can otherwise be easy to miss.

How to get the Dam Control Tower Key
Scavenging
The key can be found by scavenging. Current community reports associate it with general searchable loot, including:
- Containers
- Bags
- Lockers
- Breachable containers
- Desk drawers and cabinets
- Other storage furniture in high-traffic buildings
Research & Administration is a commonly recommended place to search because it contains substantial office-style storage. Players also report finding the key through the broader loot pool in locations such as Ruby Residence and Pale Apartments.
These are player-reported farming locations, not confirmed guaranteed spawn points. Community databases and player-voted records can identify where Raiders have found the item, but they should not be interpreted as a fixed drop table.
The Trifecta quest
The Dam Control Tower Key is listed in some current databases as a possible reward from The Trifecta, Shani’s quest that follows Down To Earth. The quest involves destroying a Wasp, Hornet, and Snitch and turning in the corresponding drone components.

However, current quest databases do not agree. Some list the Dam Control Tower Key among The Trifecta rewards, while another lists an Origin Outfit, Raider Hatch Key, and two Defibrillators without showing the tower key. Therefore, do not treat The Trifecta as a guaranteed source unless the reward panel in your live game client shows the key for your current version.
How to use the key safely
Put it in a Safe Pocket
Move the key into a Safe Pocket before travelling to the tower. If you are downed while carrying it in a normal inventory slot, you may lose it before reaching the locked door. Keeping it protected is especially important because the final approach requires an exposed climb.
Check the lift shaft before climbing
Look up into the shaft before committing to the grapple lines. ARC turrets may be positioned above the entry point, and climbing while taking fire can leave you trapped on the route. Clear the threat or wait for a safer opportunity.
Expect other players
The Control Tower is a conspicuous objective in a central, contested part of Dam Battlegrounds. Listen for movement before breaching, watch the approaches during the climb, and avoid starting the breach if another squad is actively covering the entrance.

Use a Door Blocker as an alarm
Once you open the room, you can close the door and place a Door Blocker so that another player must breach through it. This may give you warning or delay an unexpected push. It does not make the room secure, and a prepared squad can still force its way through.
Plan the extraction before opening the door
The tower creates a natural commitment point: you climb up to claim the loot, then have to descend through the same exposed structure while carrying anything you found. Before opening the room, identify a practical extraction route and check that your squad has enough healing, ammunition, and traversal capacity to leave.
This is risk-management advice based on the tower’s exposed route and central position, not a measured extraction-time or survival guarantee. If the approach is already attracting players, opening the door may not be worth the added exposure.

Choose a condition according to your ability to navigate, fight, and extract. There is currently no reliable basis for promising better Dam Control Tower loot under one of these conditions without controlled testing or an official loot table.
Common mistakes
- Searching the wrong building: the key belongs to the Control Tower, not the nearby Research & Administration building.
- Using the wrong door: the Dam Staff Room Key is used on a ground-floor door in the broader tower complex; it is not the Dam Control Tower Key.
- Taking the key out of your Safe Pocket too early: keep it protected until the approach is complete.
- Confusing it with the Raider Hatch Key: the Raider Hatch Key is a separate item and does not open the Control Tower room.
- Expecting guaranteed loot: the room’s containers and contents can vary by raid.
- Assuming The Trifecta always rewards it: current databases disagree, so check the in-game reward panel.
- Leaving the balcony unchecked: search the upper balcony after opening the main room.
