Google Play describes Dead Cells as a “roguevania action platformer.” It combines interconnected areas to explore with roguelite replayability and permadeath: each run teaches you something, but dying sends you back to begin again. The store’s shorthand is “Kill. Die. Learn. Repeat.”

Does the Android game support a controller?
Yes. Google Play advertises external controller support, alongside customizable touch controls. A Bluetooth controller designed for Android is therefore the most practical physical-control option, especially for players who prefer analog movement and physical buttons over an on-screen layout.
What “support” does—and does not—mean
Playdigious says most major controller brands should work on Android, but it cannot guarantee compatibility across the many combinations of Android versions, phones, tablets and controllers. Support is not a promise that every gamepad will pair correctly or expose every button.

How to choose and use a controller
- Confirm Android compatibility. Look for an Android-compatible Bluetooth controller rather than assuming a gamepad made for another platform will work.
- Check the exact pairing. Consult the controller maker’s Android requirements and your phone or tablet’s Bluetooth and Android-version support.
- Pair it in Android settings. Put the controller into pairing mode, open Bluetooth settings, select it, and wait for Android to show it as connected.
- Launch Dead Cells and test every input. Verify movement, jump, attack, dodge and menu navigation before starting a serious run. If buttons fail, unpair and pair again, then check for controller firmware or Android updates.
- Keep touch controls available. The game supports customizable on-screen controls, providing a fallback if a controller is unavailable or only partly recognized.
A phone mount or grip can make handheld play more comfortable, but fit depends on the specific phone and accessory; no particular product has been confirmed for this game.

What the mobile release means for the series
Playdigious announced that the mobile versions had reached 5 million units sold in a 2023 press release. That is a dated historical publisher figure, not a current sales total: Playdigious’ press release.
