Dead Island 3 is in development at Dambuster Studios, and the studio’s accounts for the year ended March 31, 2025, give a predicted release window of Q1 or Q2 2028. That is a target reported from the accounts—not a confirmed launch date. The filing was submitted on December 15, 2025.
Is Dead Island 3 officially in production?
Dead Island 3 is named in reporting on Dambuster Studios Ltd.’s filed accounts. Companies House records that the studio filed full accounts for the year ended March 31, 2025, on December 15, 2025. The registry notes that it does not check the accuracy of information filed with it, so the filing confirms the company record and date; the game-development details come from reports describing the accounts.

VGC’s December 16, 2025 report says parts of the game were in early production, including feature, character, world, and narrative design. This describes work underway on parts of the project, not a claim that every part of the game had reached the same stage.
When is Dead Island 3 coming out?
The accounts’ reported wording is: “The current predicted release window for the project is Q1/2 2028.” Pure Xbox reproduces the passage, while VGC also reports the 2028 window. Q1/2 means the first or second quarter of 2028; it does not specify a day or promise that release will happen in that period.

The accounts cover a year ending March 31, 2025, and were filed in December 2025. The reviewed reporting does not establish whether Dambuster or publisher Deep Silver has since changed or reaffirmed the target. Treat 2028 as the prediction reported from those accounts, rather than a confirmed current schedule.
What do we know about the development team?
According to Pure Xbox’s account of the filing, the accounts said all developers were assigned to Dead Island 3. They also said Dambuster’s QA team was expected to join after work on the Dead Island 2 Luna and Mac versions was complete. These are staffing plans described in accounts for the year ended March 2025, not independently verified details of the team’s present assignments.

Did Dambuster tease Dead Island 3 before the filing?
In a September 2025 Steam post, Dambuster wrote: “Dambuster Studios are already carving out what comes next. For now, the details stay under wraps, the outbreak is far from over…” That passage hinted at more Dead Island but did not name Dead Island 3. The later reporting on the accounts is what identified the project by name.

The reviewed reports do not establish Dead Island 3’s platforms, exact release date, preorders, editions, setting, characters, or gameplay details. The September teaser kept specifics under wraps. A platform or feature claim needs a newer official announcement; Dead Island 2’s platform lineup does not confirm where its sequel will appear.

For context, Dambuster took over Dead Island 2’s development in 2019, and that game launched in April 2023 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via the Epic Games Store, according to VGC. The predecessor’s timeline and platforms do not establish Dead Island 3’s development duration or release platforms.
