For the original PlayStation 3 game, the documented 60/120 FPS patch also requires specific non-default settings: Clocks Scale 200 and Vblank Rate 120. Check your game’s version and ID before applying it.
What are the system requirements for Demon’s Souls on RPCS3?
RPCS3 publishes general emulator requirements, but the available project information does not establish a current Demon’s Souls-specific minimum PC specification. It also does not provide a reliable performance forecast for particular CPUs or graphics cards. Meeting the baseline therefore does not mean a PC will sustain a given resolution or frame rate.

RPCS3 cautions that its requirements are not fully known and may change as development continues. The operating systems and redistributable named in the FAQ may also be dated, so consult the current RPCS3 setup guide and FAQ for up-to-date installation guidance. RPCS3 requires official PlayStation 3 system firmware; its setup guidance recommends Vulkan in GPU configuration for optimization, but does not say Vulkan is the only renderer supported on compatible hardware.
This article concerns the original PS3 release running in RPCS3, not the 2020 PlayStation 5 remake. Emulator performance depends on the PC and configuration, and the project’s compatibility list is the place to check for current title status. No performance benchmark is available here to substantiate an average FPS or a hardware-specific prediction.

How do I use the Demon’s Souls 60 FPS patch?
RPCS3’s Game Patches page documents a community 60/120 FPS patch by Whatcookie. Its note says: “This patch MUST be used with the following settings: Clocks Scale: 200, Vblank Rate: 120”. Those values are requirements for this patch configuration, not RPCS3 defaults, and do not guarantee a PC can maintain the selected frame rate.
- Check the game ID and version shown by RPCS3 for your copy.
- Open RPCS3’s patch manager and locate the current Demon’s Souls entry that matches your game build. The page identifies the US disc build as BLUS30443 and the EU disc build as BLES00932. Do not assume an entry for one build works with another regional or digital version.
- Enable the desired 60 FPS or 120 FPS patch entry, if available for your build.
- Set Clocks Scale to 200 and Vblank Rate to 120 for this patch configuration. Follow the current patch entry’s instructions if they change.
The patch data provides fixed-timestep values for 60 FPS and 120 FPS. Choosing a target is not a performance promise: the project material does not provide a reproducible test result or a guaranteed PC specification for either target. RPCS3’s patch help describes patch configurations; check the latest entry in the patch manager because patch details can change.

Why does the patch require a different Vblank rate?
The patch note explicitly pairs its frame-rate patch with Vblank Rate 120 and Clocks Scale 200. These are coordinated requirements for that patch, rather than general settings to apply to every RPCS3 game. The project documentation describes configuration guidance as settings that deviate from defaults; leave unrelated settings alone unless a current title-specific instruction supports changing them.

Exposure flicker
The Demon’s Souls patch notes list an optional dynamic-exposure change that can be enabled if flickering occurs. They also note that disabling it may improve performance. This is a documented visual trade-off, not a general performance tweak: try the option only if relevant to your display issue or priorities.

Unexpected patch behavior
- Recheck the game ID and build against the patch entry; regional and digital versions should not be assumed interchangeable.
- Confirm Clocks Scale 200 and Vblank Rate 120 when using the documented 60/120 FPS patch.
- Check the current compatibility list and patch manager for changes rather than applying arbitrary global tweaks.
Getting useful support
If the issue persists, RPCS3’s FAQ recommends providing your operating system, CPU, GPU, and RPCS3.log when reporting a problem. Include the game ID and describe whether the patch is enabled; consult the compatibility list and RPCS3 forums for title-specific information.
