Destiny 2’s hard Power cap is 550, and Bungie says it will not reset or rise for Monument of Triumph. To progress, use the Portal’s reward forecast to choose activities and aim for an A grade or higher: those rewards can continue to increase Power through the cap. Bungie no longer defines a fixed checklist of Powerful and Pinnacle sources; it describes Powerful gear broadly as anything that boosts Power.
What is Destiny 2’s max Power cap?
The hard cap is 550 Power. Bungie’s 2026 Monument of Triumph FAQ confirms that the maximum remains 550, and Update 9.7.0 says Power will not be reset or increased. The FAQ also says there is no Power Level increase for Monument of Triumph. Bungie Help
How do you get Power fast?
Use the Portal as your main progression route. Bungie describes the Portal as a place to progress Power and earn higher-tier gear. Its activities include Solo Ops, Fireteam Ops, Arena Ops, Pinnacle Ops and Crucible Ops; Gambit Ops are also referenced in Update 9.7.0. Weekly Reward Pass, Weekly Conquest and Challenges, and Ops completions are among the reward sources identified by Bungie Help. Bungie Help: Portal and activities

It shows the activity’s expected gear tier, loot pool and Power. Update 9.7.0 says an A grade gives the same reward Power regardless of the difficulty selected, and that A-grade-or-higher rewards can grant positive Power through 550. Higher grades provide larger bonuses. Bungie does not publish a universal Power delta for every activity and rotation.

Choose an activity that fits your group
- Solo Ops: solo-capable, if you want to progress without assembling a fireteam.
- Fireteam and Pinnacle Ops: group activities; check the forecast before committing to a run.
- Other Portal options: Arena Ops and Crucible Ops, alongside the other available activity categories. Compare their displayed grade and reward tier rather than assuming one always gives more Power.
Some particular activities require ownership of related content or campaign progress. That does not mean expansion ownership is required for general Power progression; check the activity’s access requirements when selecting a gated mission. Bungie Help: Activities

What are all the Powerful and Pinnacle sources?
There is no reliable current, exhaustive fixed list that works like older Powerful and Pinnacle checklists. Bungie’s 2026 FAQ says, “Powerful gear now loosely refers to anything that provides your Guardian with a Power boost.” The current guidance is to use the Portal forecast and pursue strong activity grades, while checking weekly rewards as they appear in game. For broad reward opportunities, Bungie Help points to the Weekly Reward Pass, Weekly Conquest and Challenges, and completion of Solo, Fireteam, Pinnacle and Crucible Ops. Weekly offerings and forecasts can change, so treat the Director as the authority for what is available now. The official overview does not specify exact Power outcomes for every activity.

What should returning players do to level up?
Bungie says freshly returning Guardians start at 10 Power, with natural drops at 300+ Power serving as catch-up. This is a natural-drop approach rather than a catch-up chest. Once you are earning gear, use the Portal forecast to identify rewards and pursue A-grade-or-higher activities for positive Power progression. Bungie Help: Monument of Triumph FAQ
Are older activities, vendor purchases and Collections useful for Power?
They can provide gear, but their Power behavior is less favorable than the Portal’s A-grade-or-higher route:

- Miscellaneous rewards from older content: Update 9.7.0 says these are no longer capped at 300. They have a chance to drop +1 Power up to 400; above 400, they drop close to but below the player’s current Power. The +1 is a chance, not a guaranteed upgrade.
- Legacy vendor purchases: drop near but below current Power.
- Collections items: drop at 300 Power.
These changes are from Bungie Update 9.7.0. Older content may still be worth playing for its other rewards or goals, but do not count on every drop being an upgrade. Bungie Update 9.7.0

Older guides may use former seasonal caps, including the 1990/2000-era figures, or present a fixed weekly Pinnacle checklist. Those are not a current substitute for the 550 cap, Bungie’s broader definition of Powerful gear and the Portal’s activity-specific forecast. Use current in-game listings for the week rather than assuming a previously listed source still works the same way.
